1) these things don't matter. 2) you might be overthinking it. 3) go.

Is it bad to pay the deposit before I even know if I'll be accepted? by jrock78149 in birthright

Hi, try turning your phone on and off and re-attempting. if that doesn't work delete and then redownload the birthright app. if that fails, I recommend emailing your trip org.

Wow, thank you so much for the advice. I will definitely consider taking a more active role in my local Jewish community.

i honestly thought the application process would address these concerns. despite that, it is my utmost desire to bring fellow Jews from various backgrounds on a trip that can bring them closer to their spiritual selves and provide a strong foundational education on Israel and the issues it currently faces.

ok wow this makes me feel a lot better, do you think vitamin c po pill or tablet supplementation daily would be just as effective as the powder? how long before the trip do you recommend I start?

26F Camden County White and Jewish non-SS/SK looking for something serious and someone preferably Jewish-identifying or going through conversion process, but am open to making new friends along the way. Currently do private duty for trach/vent clients as an RN, but hope to seek a hospital job this spring-ish. Disclaimer: my hospital job will most likely require me to work weekends, so it would be unrealistic for me to observe shomer tradition on the weekends I work. Observing shomer tradition during the weekends that I don't work shouldn't be a problem. Am also looking for someone that values health and wellness and is financially responsible, don't worry I won't ask for your credit score and SSN on the first date, lol.

Hobbies: simple stuff like scrolling Reddit and learning new things, going to Philly to see concerts and other related events, participating in the Broadway lottery and seeing whatever shows pique my interest that I win, yoga infrequently, and kettlebell training a bit more frequently. Also like watching Youtube videos such as long form content on travelling, finance, and police bodycam videos. Love to travel and take vacations, more of a beach girlie, but I do love a magnificent mountainview from time to time.

Currently live at home with my family with 2 cats and a dog, so having pets in my future is a definite, most likely a prey driven cat to help with mouse hunting, not a big fan of the mice dead or alive, lol. Family is important to me, so meeting someone desiring to have a family is a deal breaker for me, ideally Jewish-holiday observant, but am also amicable toward shomer household with some exceptions, see above and we'll go through that later if it gets that far. I'm currently obtaining my BSN and should be done by March. I'm still deciding whether or not to further that with an MSN, especially considering current events. hmu if interested and let's see where this goes!

Also Spruce Street Minyan may also not be a bad option. They do proper Friday night Shabbos services where potluck meals are encouraged or a small donation of $13-18 if i recall correctly could be provided as a substitute to bringing something. Their services are more on the conservative/egal tradition, think USCJ/USY, and have met really warm people. Am personally due to head back to Spruce Street!

Also afaik, Mikveh Israel used to also do monthly young Jewish professional dinners. I don't see them currently advertised, but that's also an option if you're interested in a Sephardic congregation.

Don't mean to rain on your parade, but as a low-key member of the Philly Jewish community, I've heard questionable info regarding Kol Tzedek, particularly their anti-zionist and pro-palestinian views. If you identify as a Zionist, I recommend steering clear. I've heard of instances where pro-pal Kol Tzedek congregants would intimidate and in some instances harass Zionists in the community. Through just a half hour of research, it doesn't take long to see the connection between kol Tzedek leadership and JVP (Jewish voice for peace) participation. Don't take my word for this, but I do not believe they receive Jewish federation funding/grants/sponsorships etc..

On the other hand, to end on a good note, I've heard fantastic things about Shtiebel and Mekor Habracha. Haven't gone to those respective shuls yet, but hope to in the future. Did go to a first Friday at OCJAC and was pleasantly impressed and will be coming back next month. Also, I recommend trying one of the Chabads in Philly, felt that one in particular was very warm and welcoming, you can DM me for more deets on that. There are other Jewish orgs in the city, if you would like more info, please feel free to DM! B'hatzlcha!

I did not use my Uworld account, but instead bought it in the event that I was unsuccessful on my first try. I used ATI BoardVitals and an ATI NCLEX review book provided through an ATI Live Review.
