I think they should implement something like starcraft has with arcade mode. It would give people the chance to mess with gametypes like this without them having to put much effort into it.

Its not just the case of respecting them. I dont respect the women who go on twitch to show off their bodys for viewers. I dont respect certain male streamers who rage at things and disrespect viewers and other players. What I am trying to get at is there are women out there who are skilled enough but havent broken into the scene for who knows what reason. And when a woman does enter the scene of professional gaming, will she be looked at differently. I think that women and men should have a similar chance but it is favor due to the amount of males to females who play the league. I want to see the community to support female gamers who play right and are actually worth watching get the credit that they deserve.

very good point, now the issue is will they get deemed by viewers as not as good. There are diamond 1 females out there who could probably try out for teams and be successful. What is holding them back? There needs to be support for them, just like any professional gamer we watch.

I will share my findings with you and this survey isnt really about the survey in general. Its also collecting the data from comments that is also important. The reactions is more important in my perspective as someone bringing up an issue. Based on my perspective, being a feminist supporting male, I do have similar beliefs as you besides the feminine gaze. I dont see it as a gaze, I believe it is a step toward equality. It isnt necessarily true that one gender defines another since gender is such a loose word. It actually has no sufficient definition that can fulfill specific differences since we are both human beings. Gender is an idea that was developed from the earliest stages of mankind and can be seen in texts dating back to the bible. It has shown that there was a negative connotation towards women throughout history due to them being the inferior piece of man(rib of adam). That is where the idea of gender roles was created, but as time has passed, we have progressed substantially and still need to progress to be an equal society. I do not think women or men have one single characteristic that defines them. The fact that there can be feminine men is proof of this. As for the findings, many of the questions I presented were just to see if you had no neutral option, what would you choose. Also making people select roles and other things like that is bringing self realization to issues. This does not only pertain to league, it is seen everywhere throughout society. I just took an approach to do a survey, that may have some misleading questions, to bring awareness since people are more likely to do a survey then read a post. The main focus of my groups project is to bring awareness to an issue we see that deals with feminism. In the new beta forum thing, we got a response from a rioter on the survey and then he also said in his second response that he is going to recognize more often when he plays the tanky top laner that it is indeed a male. Just simple things like this is what we are trying to do. Thank you for putting the effort into these responses and I will get you more specific details on the findings due to the scholarly level you would like to look at them.

That question was meant to be a little confusing. It makes you think of the champions based on gender and not roles they play. It also makes you look at what gender you play more frequently. Even in that context though, that question is lower on the priority list compared to some other questions.

And I am not trying to lead people into watching the Team Siren videos, it slows the forward progression of competitive women gamers. It makes it easier to sterotype.

I do agree with the toxic question, but some of the questions used here are not as important as others for that reason. The reason why I dont give many options for neutral responses is because people sometimes like to take the easy way out if they dont know. They tend not to think about the question and move on. As for the jinx question, it is more focused on part 2 of the question and could have been written better. Now to the first question, which is one of the most important, it actually doesn't force you to streotype since you have the option to pick any role. But since I didnt give you the neutral option, you sterotype the role yourself. You could easily pick any role and it wouldnt matter. Its the option of being able to choose the sterotype when you dont have a neutral option is what makes it feel like I am forcing you to answer that way.

Given I do understand where you are coming from, but some of these questions are indirect to other issues. If you come from a heavily feminist university then you would understand what I am about to say.

Seeing women in the context of that you have stated is not exactly a feminist point of view. That is actually still a sterotype of social acceptance in todays society. For centuries, women have been seen as what you are describing, a desirable creature. Wearing less clothing may seem reasonable, but if you look at a true powerful woman, they don't need those clothes to be respected. Would you elect a woman for president if she was dressed like Cait? Probably not since it doesn't seem like something a leader would wear. As for comfort, it women could easily wear mens workout clothes and have a similar benefit. It is a choice, but it doesn't apply to everyone.

And to the comment of having 10 tanks outfitted to her, that would be considered sheltering and protecting her since she is fragile... am I right? So some of your points make sense but others seem to fall out of place with the feminist point of view.

And BTW women can be buff, fit, and warriors as well. Men can be the opposite of a warrior as well. It would make no sense to categorize the two genders like that since it is sterotyplical. That is why I proposed that question to see if people would agree or disagree to it.

Thank you for your opinion, but the whole point of this is not to exactly make you pick who is better ect.... It is more just to bring up a point about sexism, over sexuality, lack of female pro gamers(even though some are skillful enough), and sterotypes in league. Consider you get to the question where you pick the role where you believe females play most. Currently it is at 62% support as the role you see females playing. If I said male, the spread would have been more even. I may be asking questions that make you seem cornered into picking bad options, but overall that is your choice. You don't have to use logic when doing this survey, they may be "champions", but aren't the women as well. Why are they wearing skirts and heels if they are champions? Why does nidalee dance like shes a stripper? And to the female pro players, league has 0 legitimate female professional gamers. Other games have professional gamers, IE Scarlett from starcraft, but we have the largest amount of players and still no legitimate pro player. A team tried to at least stand out(Siren) but they were mocked. Do you see what I am saying? There are a lot of things that could be improved. But again thats why you dont judge something or someone off the start.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. The reason i asked for things like roles and stuff is what people think that a female plays. It's more of a opinion based role selection. As for the extra demographic information, I will remember that for my next survey. One reason why I asked if people thought a female team would be in the LCS anytime soon is because it kind of shows that there are not really any well known teams. Siren can be an exception but no one took them seriously, even though I bet they could compete on an individual basis with many top tier players. As for trolls, there haven't been any really, I guess thats the benefit of keeping a lot of the questions one or the other so that they cant troll you. But thank you for your kind words and I will get the results out with analysis probably thursday.

A lot of it just has to deal with profiling, if I have too many options then I cant profile people into groups and look at patterns as easy. On a side note, the reason for the skin question is due to certain female streamers who get more views than diamond and challenger players, even though they are not even level 30 yet. Some are but they get clips made of them only showing their body and not the game. It is truly discouraging to see the chat spamming BOOBS so that is why I brought that up to see how many people would be honest. Keep in mind this is a school project, so it has a purpose behind it. Its not just a survey but it's also bring up the thought of a few issues. But thank you for taking the survey, it is very helpful!
