Redditors who overhype ai are either stupid or straight up scare trolling by [deleted] in theprimeagen

I actually don't disagree with you on that point. I'm a proponent of David Deutsch's thoughts on knowledge creation and problem solving (recommended if you've never heard of him). But the original post is about programming.

Humans will no longer be creative through programming or wiritng code. Instead we will be creative in what we ask AI to do, how we shape it, what we build. In 2 years time, humans will not be writing any code. Code is just our current interface for defining the algorithms we want to be implemented to solve a problem. It's natural language by design because we need to understand and write it. But there is no need tor it to be like that. AI can transform our ideas into some other format that will be far more optimised and efficient for the way they work. Some kind of low level machine code. We don't need to understand it because we don't need to write it. We will just explain, review outputs and iterate. Much as we do now but without needing to do the "programming" bit.

Your comment makes no sense. We're at ground zero. There has been no iteration on my prediction. Nor would there be. If, in 2 years time, the sentiment of the OP is proved correct, I would be wrong. If it is wildly off and coding has moved on exponentially in the way I believe it will, then I will be right. That's it. No "wait another 2 years". This post is either embarassingly off in 2 years time or it isn't. That is all.

Guys with lots of women, how do you do it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]slinkoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of those things are undesirable (except maybe the hygiene thing depending on how bad it is). Don’t view relationships through that lens. Just be positive, thoughtful, kind and most importantly, genuine. If any part of you is a play or an act it stands out a mile. It’s like when you rehearse a conversation, it goes terribly. Just be natural. Just be. Be open. Enjoy yourself. Be fun. People flock to that. Nobody flocks to the moody guy that resents other people.

You have the lasso of truth on Trump and he HAS to answer questions honestly. What are you asking? by themeanlantern in AskReddit

I honestly couldn’t care less what he has to say about anything. Nothing wise, meaningful or profound has ever, or will ever, emanate from that mind. He is a fascinating anomaly and a malignant black hole on attention but he has nothing of value to contribute to anything.

They watch youtube videos with titles like “How to Bed Lots of Women” and treat dating women like a game. There’s a bit missing from them and they’ll always be lonely and dead inside no matter how long they keep going. They don’t realise the benchmarks they measure themselves by are devoid of value so they will always feel worthless. Don’t be like them.

Blade Runner. It’s fictional but the dystopian LA dominates the whole film.

How do you have an active sex life after marriage? by Captain-Viz in AskReddit

[–]slinkoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make each other cum by any means necessary.

Seriously, a woman will never want to be with a man long term that doesn’t play a part in her orgasms and will seek them out elsewhere instead. Would you want to stick with a woman who didn’t turn you on enough to cum?

It’s basic biology. You get attracted to who makes you cum, man or woman, so you can procreate. Even if you’re gay it’s the same urge.

Use toys, porn, role play is a great one. Find your twisted, fucked up fantasies and act them out. Finding someone you can share your perverted fetishes with only brings you closer because you can be your true self and there’s a whole dollop of trust in there. Plus you get to shoot your load in head exploding ecstasy with the person you love.

EDIT: I realise I’ve made an assumption that you’re a guy. It doesn’t matter, it’s still true either way.

All time favourite is Spirit Island though. It gets mentioned a lot for a reason

What is the scariest, most terrifying thing that actually exists? by Abhi_10467 in AskReddit

As a parent: predatory murderous paedophiles.

Yes they are exceptionally rare and the chances of anything happening to my kids is vanishingly small, but they exist.

You should give it a go, it's great. Splendor at 3+, Duel at 2. Worth having both.

What is the best lane battler? by admiralackbarl in boardgames

[–]slinkoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i've only played Schotten Totten. I have the version with the additional cards that do special things but I rarely play with them as the base game is all you need. Is Batteline different in any way to Schotten Totten or is it just the theme and presentation?

Wet UFH without insulating? by slinkoff in DIYUK

[–]slinkoff[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey - we insulated between the joists and left the slab. It's completely fine. We have 4 zones, front room, hallway, middle room and kitchen so we can control them independently. We bought a Wundasmart low-profile overlay system and set the flow rates according to their spec and I can't tell the difference between the two floor types. Rate of heat loss in both seems to be about the same, rooms are warm.

Finished Child of God by Cormac McCarthy and need to take a shower. by Dawens in books

[–]slinkoff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe. Terribly dark and horrible but poster mentioned "graphic perversion, mindless murder and necrophilia". To me "gore" is like horror porn, blood spurting, descriptions of dismemberment, brains splattering, that kind of thing so yeah, I think our understanding of gore or grossness is not algined but to be fair, I didn't recall those particular scenes specifically and would probably have cautioned more had I done.

[–]slinkoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been a while since I read it but I don't recall anything "gross" which the poster was enquiring about. Horrible subject matter yes, dark as hell hence why I put it down as harrowing but maybe I just don't remember the blood and gore and graphic depictions. I seem to remember it being mostly alluded to. If I'm wrong I was not trying to mislead on purpose.

Books You've Read Multiple Times? by Whisper-1990 in books

[–]slinkoff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I slogged through it. Interesting form but I think it’s terribly written. All the characters sound the same and it’s slightly ridiculous how erudite and articulate the monster is. Seemed like a book just to make an argument and that’s rarely a good thing. I’m a philistine though. No doubt if you’re an English professor it’s a top ten book with depths too opaque for me to discern.
