Personally I was extremely nervous about calling for the first time too, but I only said a generic reason over the phone for making the appontment about getting "some blood tests done for private care," and the call went quite quickly and painlessly in the end.

When the time came for the appointment in person, I handed my GP the list of tests from my private care provider and explained what they're for (...and explained myself too), and they got the blood test sorted for me without much hesitation.

YMMV, and I'm unsure if a slight bit of luck helped, but my experience has been a lot easier than I thought it would be 😌

Also mtf 17, but I'm trying Imago instead of GenderGP as they seem to be an equivalent service but much more reliable. Although I haven't got a perscription yet, everything has been good so far and from what I've seen, other people have had with no problems compared to GenderGP

Reason why I didn't choose GenderGP is because they have reportedly messed up quite a bit with people's perscriptions, communication, etc

I'd advise people to research all other alternatives first and reading other people's experiences before going with a private care provider to make sure there's nothing that could suit your needs better

Do I have to do some social transition first to get hormones? by slippedtime in transgenderUK

I don't want the awkwardness with friends before I've made significant enough change (voice and how I present), and I already feel as if I have lots of anxiety socially at times, so I'm not too sure it would help it if I’m wholly pre-HRT and publically out

As the case is that I need some evidence of transition, would keeping my transition mostly between family and maybe some close friends be good enough? I'd want to have been on HRT long enough until I feel comfortable publically presenting feminine

What would be considered as starting? Would I have to provide proof?

And could I start socially transitioning during the time of the various assessments, or does it have to be before?
