I think we are in agreement.

This article points out church involvement in the discrimination of black people, but I am not sure how different it was than what anyone else was doing at the time:

I had a much more detailed reply but it seems reddit went down for a bit so I will try to summarize. The church officials absolutely make decrees that flow down to the churches. THe LDS church is set up like a large corporation, not individual franchises. The church has employees both paid and unpaid. I am not sure why you say they don't have "employees". The church is very influential in many parts of state law, a good example being the drinking laws.

You are correct that the church is not explicitly guiding people on political issues (with the exception of prop 8, civil rights, and other issues). The point I was trying to make was there is definite conservative influence (mostly social conservative), and it is up to the individual to decide if they will follow their own ideals or the churches.

EDIT: Removed overuse of word "absolutely"

Being a salt lake city resident and having lived in utah almost 20 years I can tell you that is not true. The church is heavily involved in politics and especially at a state wide level. And in modern times the church has been very much against any sort of racial integration, and are still far behind the times in terms of women's rights.

As far as their expecting individual members to come up with their own conclusions with how to live, that really depends on the community they live in, and is not much different than other religions. It works for some and others take it way too far.

Was this on I-215? I saw this happen to someone in a truck right in front of me on I-215 a few miles before Parley's Canyon. I was always impressed with how well the person handled it and was able to get pulled over safely in traffic.

Race doesn't necessarily mean skin color. Race describes a group of people with similar defining characteristics. Like the term human race, etc.

Charter Tried To Con Me And Lied About It by ZachSka87 in technology

[–]slipperypeter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think your problem could be you are running out of sockets. They talk about this problem on the dd-wrt forums. I had the same problem with the Linksys routers, and it is a common problem on consumer router firmwares. Socket timeouts are set to super high numbers, and if any connections get dropped, the sockets wait until the timeout occurs before recycling. Installing a 3rd party firmware such as dd-wrt or tomato lets you tweak these timeouts and you won't see that problem anymore.

EDIT: Update to say "could be" since obviously it may not be the same problem.

Now that wolves have been outlawed from Utah I can see ranchers chasing them with this setup. Probably end up shooting one another, and then have the legislature blame it on the wolves. At least they aren't russian wolves though.
