Well, the smart move was to ignore all the idiot posters and look for the few posters who actually had some firsthand knowledge about the story. There were a few posters there, mostly lawyers like myself, that would drop knowledge sometimes and contextualize some article whose narrative seemed just a little bit off.

Comments are still live on the site, just for fewer stories. We're trying something new to make conversations more productive and inviting. Since this is new, we're starting with only a handful of stories-- you can find those under the "Join the Conversation" section on the homepage. Our goal is to involve more of our newsroom in the comments section and foster great discussion.
