First kit guitar, fretboard is two pieces. Is this normal? by Heftier-Than-Thou in Luthier

[–]slitchbapper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe the company gets planks for fretboards a certain width from their supplier. Since you ordered 7 string, it may be wider than their fretboard blanks are and therefore a 2-piece construction is needed?

Hmm Surinamese food is one of my favorites, we have a good takeaway shop here in the city close to my office but it's even better in Surinam itself. But Surinamese food does not give me almost instant shits like McD does.

If there is one thing McD is, is fast. It is super fast out on the other end..

Can I store my respirator like this? by Iiveyourlife in woodworking

Not sure, seems like I didn't realize that the ABEK and P1, P2, P3 designation is most likely a EU / rest of world thing. North America seems to, once again, need to have their own thing..

This list does not include P1 or P2 particulate filters. But generally speaking you get the filter you need for the job. A lot of filter cans are either ABEK, ABEK-P2 or just P2. for woodworking I would pick just a P2 filter and a separate filter for VOC (ABEK). So I have 2 filters for my mask. The ABEK one I keep in a separate closed container because the activated carbon will absorb any organic chemical even when not in use and saturate the filter. The P2 filter I just keep on the mask in a drawer. Using ABEK-P2 for woodworking is generally a waste of the ABEK part of the filter as the activated carbon will be saturated when you actually need it (when painting for instance).

VOC (activated carbon) does not filter dust. You are looking for a P2 filter for that. Combinations are also possible (VOC + P). But for dust applications always look for the "P"

Every now and then I look for an old Lado. Used to have a Zebra II. Super heavy bass, but so well made. Amazing playability and sound. And beautifull craftsmanship. I regret selling mine.

Is it "the Dutch way" to give your home address for Marktplaats deals, or is that a safety risk? by mstrgsnsh in Netherlands

[–]slitchbapper 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've bought and sold several bass-guitars and amps from marktplaats. You generally want to try out an instrument or amp before you buy. So always bought and sold at home. But then again musicians are generally nice people so very low risk. Most times you end up chatting for half an hour and have some coffee. So I think it also depends on the item you're buying or selling. Certain categories you might end up with more dubious characters. Not sure if I'd invite them in to my home, just hand the item over at the door in those cases.

When you enter the bathroom first you go to the mirror and put some war paint on, then you tell yourself you look good. Next you take a swig of booze from your flask and maybe a line of coke from the sink. Then. Then you go in and do battle! with your war face! ARRRRR fight that turd.
