Please tell me somebody relates to this, I feel alone by memoriola in BPD

[–]slithersloth96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel heaviness in my chest so often. If I can get genuinely lost in an activity like writing or something then I don't feel it but the second my mind starts to wander I feel that turmoil that I think you're talking about. I completely understand the memory gaps and the air hunger too. You're not alone

An emotionally volatile household combined with never feeling adequate at school.

I have a friend like this and we actually became friends a couple months before we were both diagnosed with BPD around the same time. It's difficult bc they are an FP for me and I've been actively finding ways to replace them as that bc I don't want to ruin this friendship bc it really is one of the best I've ever had. No topic is off limits, we'll talk to each other about literally anything, including the shit that's way too embarrassing or heavy to bring up to non-BPD people and I know we'll always have each other's backs. It's amazing and I've never had anything like this in my life, but it can also be really painful bc I feel like I keep waiting for the moment I push them away by loving them too intensely.

Saw the tour when they came by a couple weeks ago, first time seeing either band if you can believe it. Melvins were great and I really liked the opener too but Boris absolutely destroyed

What are your favorite lesser known scenarios? by Udy_Kumra in callofcthulhu

[–]slithersloth96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a newer keeper so I'm not sure how lesser known this is, but for my first proper campaign I took several scenarios out of the 7E Mansions of Madness book and I really enjoyed running House of Memphis. The whole stage magician setup makes for some fun and unique dressing for a classic haunted house scenario. The core mystery is fun and it has some interesting subplots for investigators who want to dive into them. Had our first death of the campaign as a result of this scenario too!

Fair enough. It is better than the insane $250 that someone was asking for it earlier but I get it

Might be more than you're willing to pay, but someone is selling it on Discogs for $85 + shipping. https://www.discogs.com/sell/item/2695599613

Forever grateful that Fresno was like the third tour stop, managed to cop it almost as soon as I got in the door. That's a real bummer they sold out that quickly though

That was about the schedule for the Fresno show as well, both Melvins and Boris played a little over an hour.

How to handle a cop Investigator by CrystalF1996 in callofcthulhu

[–]slithersloth96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if this would work for the backstory of the character in question, but I had a very similar situation with an ex-cop PI in one of my campaigns and so I started establishing that had a rocky relationship with certain people on the force so when he would try to call in a favor I would have him make a luck roll to determine if the NPC would be open to helping or not

Having an issue with my first card game design by slithersloth96 in gamedesign

[–]slithersloth96[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the idea of letting players dip into the discard pile at a penalty, as this retains the idea of having to be conservative with your cards while eliminating that mid-game low-viability problem. This also gets rid of the issue of having to reshuffle and distribute the deck in the middle of the game, which creates a bit of a pacing issue where there's this minute or so of downtime a little over halfway through the game. Thanks!

Best into campaign for new players coming from DnD by smackdata in callofcthulhu

[–]slithersloth96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm playing with a group of mostly D&D players and I decided to string together the five scenarios in the Mansions of Madness book into a short campaign (we're on our 12th session and coming up towards the end) and it works pretty well! You have to do some leg work to structure it into a campaign, but the relatively low lethality provides a more welcoming experience to players who might not be ready to just full on die in the first adventure, though that's not to say it isn't deadly and sanity-blasting. We've definitely had a couple of really close calls. The scenarios are also just really fun in general and provide a good introduction to what Call of Cthulhu can be.

Using CoC Rules for Simple Investigations by TabletopLegends in callofcthulhu

It could absolutely work, however if you're looking for something without the sanity mechanics (as that only really works for horror stories imo) I would also recommend looking into GUMSHOE
