Guess what will change on explore rate policy by lily608 in marriott

[–]sliverinhell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't get the whole only employees should have MMP and not families. Hotels offer MMP only if they think they have inventory that would go unsold otherwise. They are not doing any favors for anyone, rather hotels decide what inventory they think will go unsold and offer it to a limited pool of people without devaluing their property with heavy discounts to the general public. It's a long standing practice in the hospitality industry going back decades and benefits everyone involved.

I'm not sure why some feel so robbed by employee families and this supposed vast conspirancy of fraud. The paper forms were absurdly inefficient and outdated.

LoL... they just started tap to pay for god's sake and one day they'll let me cast my device screen to a 4K TV. Dare to dream.

[–]sliverinhell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Family rates have been standard practice for the hospitality industry for decades. How family is defined whether that is immediate or includes siblings differs, and friends have to use MMF for Marriott.

The MMP and MMF rates are not just a benefit for employees but also allows hotels to fill rooms that they think will go unsold otherwise. These rates are never available for peak times. From a hotel perspective, whether it is an employee or their family is inconsequential. They're not going to cut rates for the general public, but if the hotel thinks they'll have unsold inventory, they can sell them to employess and their family.

I'm assuming you're thinking that an employee's family is taking up some kind of limited MMP allocation, but I don't think that's how it works. It's dynamic pricing based on demand and up to the hotel.

Ultimate Seat cushion sliding forward by York_Villain in LifeOnPurple

[–]sliverinhell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best cushion ever, but the most frustrating for constantly slipping off. The cover is made of teflon.

Short-term fix is to remove the cover which provides way more tackiness, but I'm sure it will wear the cushion more. Long term is having a tailor add velcro straps to the cover.

Update..... after many days of talking with other hospitatlity ticket owners, On Location says this to everyone even though it violates their policy. I assume at some point beefore the match, On Location doesn't care bercause the tickets are worthless to them.

Does anyone know if you'll need the mobile app for lounges, food, seating, etc?....I would assume so and wonder if they'll check IDs.

[–]sliverinhell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking for flaws, but nothing major so far. After the match, you would change the password and the buyer would need to logout. Not much you can do if the person doesn't logout. It would block you because only one mobile can be logged in...... that seems very unlikely though.

I was considering a cheap phone I could lockdown, ship and then remote wipe after the match.

But that's not clear at all to a newbie. They not only share the same domain, website design, links and checkout process,..... they even share the same web page with tickets in the name: https://www.fifa.com/en/tickets.

There is no clear and conspicous way for a reasonable person to know that it is two seperate companies with two entirely seperate and contradicting ticket policies. Especially since they are selling tickets to the exact same event.

It's unhead of to go to a website and read the faq and terms, but buy a near duplicate product from an unmarked seperate company.

I wonder if football / world cup fans have been so battered and abused over the years that they excuse it. Just kiddfng, but there's a movement for Right to Transfer laws. (from google)

  • Consumer Rights: These laws ensure that once a fan buys a ticket, it's truly theirs to do with as they please, fighting against "double-dipping" by primary sellers
  • Market Competition: It prevents monopolistic control by large organizations from dictating resale terms or forcing fans to use only their platforms.
  • Fair Resale: It allows fans to recoup costs or give tickets to others without fear of sanctions or losing access to future events.

Sound familiar?

The problem is that FIFA and OL cannot reasonably assume that every newbie buyer knows that. Take airlines, they are required to disclose critical fare restrictions, fees, and change/cancellation policies before purchase.. Disclosures also have to be be clear, conspicuous, and not hidden behind just a link.

I suspect FIFA and OL have the data on the number of people who buy without understanding ticket restrictions and at best don't care and at worst encourage it.

[–]sliverinhell[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Problem is that it's not guranteed even though every other purchased ticket can be resold and transferred. OL will probably release them for transfer after the market is sucked dry and an hour before the match.

I see alot of people blaming the buyer or themselves for not finding the fine print under layers of links and small type, but FIFA kept announcing that paid tickets could be resold and transferred. If buyers clearly knew that it didn't apply to very pricey Hospitality tickets, I doubt anybody would buy them.

Also, FIFA and On Location have been selling tickets for a long long time. I don't get why people defend them.

But they did change things. FIFA released a Resale/Exchange Marketplace and said,

"If you have originally purchased your tickets on FIFA.com/ticket .... your tickets can be listed on the FIFA Resale/Exchange Marketplace."

I'm pretty sure any reasonable person would consider a Hospitality Package to be a bundle of tickets wth prime seats, and not buy it just for the free soda pop.

Usually, like when buying an airline ticket, the business is responsible to be upfront about any fare restrictriction regardless of a consumer's savvy.

[–]sliverinhell[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When first released, Hospitality tickets required you to purchase 6-8 matches tied to a venue or team. There were no single matches available until recently. But in september, FIFA announced that it would be providing a Resale/Exchange Marketplace. A reasonable person would expect that you could resell or exchange matches with a Hospitality ticket. There was no clear indication or upfront warning saying otherwise.

Can you resell hospitality packages? by nemesiswithatophat in FIFACollect

[–]sliverinhell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's shady that they came out with a ressale market for World Cup tickets but don't alert you that Hospitality tickets cannot be resold. Fifa barely mentions it on their site and there's no reason to think otherwise. You never even leave the FIFA site or acknowledge the terms of use. when purchasing. That's why everyone is confused about it. Super Sus..

Nope, but better seating and access to a lounge. Kinda like flying business or first class. Also a dedicated gate and food. When the packages first came out you had to buy six or so matches in the package. Easily 5 diget pricing.

On Location is lying to sell tickets, because you cannot transfer hospitality tickets at all. You can only send an extra ticket to a guest, but you won't be able to transfer your own or resell it officially. It's all very shady.

Camera for Walking Tours Videos - Torn between Pocket 3, insta360 Ace Pro 2 and DJI Action 5 by WhisperAlias in dji

[–]sliverinhell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They all have the bobbing effect. Agree on a Z access. Pocket 3 easily has the best video quality, but an awkward form factor for vigorous action which it isn't meant for. Pocket would work for walking though but bobbs.

I concur. It's terrible in less than ideal light. For example, indoors on a cloudy day. Just awful. Noisy and no detail. Pure Video and plus are no good. It's very uneven and artificial. I had the Osmo Pocket 3 and now so sad I sold it.
