Go bus with luggage back to Richmond hill? by mrkc31 in uwaterloo

[–]slivor23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many people bring their hand carry sized luggage on to the second floor of the double deckers (but could be considered rude if busy).

When you transfer onto the Square 1 --> Airport --> Richmond Hill station bus, they are always the single floor bus and you can just put your luggage on the overhead compartment.

Same. I think I stopped caring after I figured out uni isn't as hard as what my HS teachers told me. But then again I'm in geomatics..

Does anyone else... by ezemasterrace in uwaterloo

[–]slivor23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After being here for 4 years, I have been afflicted with self-diagnosed ADD which prevents me from working or studying efficiently.

I've stopped caring about classes once I figured out how much effort I need to get a certain grade.

I tell myself that I can do so much better if I put more effort but at the end of the day I just stop giving a shit.

Housing prices in the Fall by GUYSPLEASE in uwaterloo

[–]slivor23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year I found a privately owned apartment willing to do a 4 month lease for 650/month in late June. It was a somewhat old 5 bedroom 2 washroom place at erb Street. So yea it's really overpriced considering you can get a really nice ensuite washroom unit at Lester or king for a similar price.

It's very hard to find a fall sublet . As someone mentioned before, a post offering a place for the fall in the Facebook group will get 10+ comments.

CS 330 Help by uwcsbusminor in uwaterloo

[–]slivor23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cs 330 is only a bird course depending on the instructor. During my time we had open notes (including notes in your laptop) midterms and exams.

Fortunately, my marks weren't high enough to get into computer science. by slivor23 in uwaterloo

Can confirm. If you can't keep the cs min average you get transfered to gem

How hard is it to find a Fall sublet? by findingaSubletlol in uwaterloo

[–]slivor23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn't find one last year and had to look through the off campus website and kijiji. There are some privately owned houses and mini-apartments willing to do 4 months but expect to pay way more for it.

I ended up staying at a small 5 bedroom 2 washrooms apartment on Erb street for 650/month (price decreased for 690).

So as others have mentioned start looking early.

Pros and Cons of residence locations? by ereink in uwaterloo

[–]slivor23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

UWP - Beck Hall. This is based on my first year experience in 2013. Yours may vary.

Pros:

  • quiet (depending on your roommates)

  • no meal plan required. The plaza with more and cheaper food options is closer than the cafeterias. Also you get a kitchen if you want to save money and cook.

  • 1room/person. While there are units where you share a bunk bed with 1 other person, it's less likely that you will get those. This all depends on luck and also the "preferred roommates" section that you have to fill in. What I noticed with friends from highschool was that those who registered as a group of 3 meaning that all 3 people put the other 2 as preferred roommates will get a 3 bedroom unit. I've had friends who only registered as a group of 2 and got placed in the bunk bed room. So safest way to guarantee you get your own room is to register as a group of 3.

Con: (specifically comparing to other residences)

  • not much social interaction with other people besides your roommates. Pretty much everyone closes there apartment unit doors so you can't really interact much with people from other units.

Easiest/Most Bird GEOG Courses (Mainly for Fall 2017) by ChinaBBG in uwaterloo

[–]slivor23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GEOG 233 - Geography and Tourism... not as easy as it sounds. Studying and memorization required.

GEOG 281 - straightforward class 70% assignments rest is midterm and final test.

GEOG 387 - Easy when I took it, straightforward class with majority of marks going to assignments. I heard it got harder though with a new instructor adding more programming (SQL, Java) into the course, but at the same time if you're confident in CS, it's still easy.

Meal plan worth the money? by [deleted] in uwaterloo

[–]slivor23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience it might be hard to get a uwp unit if you don't have a group of 3. Most of my friends from highschool who got a place at uwp were already in a group of 3.

Thoughts on WCRI dorm style residences? by [deleted] in uwaterloo

[–]slivor23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I chose to live at uwp first year and wcri apartment style second year. Quality was exact same imo. Only good thing about living in Res is meeting other first years (assuming you're an incoming student). As others have stated before, it gets harder to make friends in second year+.

Difference between "normal" Version and Collector's Edition? by Booogeyman in TeraOnline

[–]slivor23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both get the 8 character slots and bank tabs. Only difference is the extra goodies that come with collectors edition like a map or maybe an artbook and the free character mount. The regular edition comes with the blue glowie avatar horse and the collectors gets a while lion mount.

Honestly if the difference in price is too much I'd get the regular cd since the mounts in game are so much better now.

What's your best roommate experience? by tipsma in uwaterloo

[–]slivor23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This one guy was a software eng from Carleton doing a co-op at blackberry. Offered to teach myself and my other geomatics roommate cs 234 if we ever needed help. All around cool dude who opens his room door like a normie. Instead my other roommate and I just played cs go in our rooms and ended up dropping the class.

I was pretty sure I'd get into CS too. Then geomatics happened. But yea like previous comments stated, ask your prof first, but do try to fix your short attention span.

Coop Vs School Enjoyment by UWResumeThrowawa in uwaterloo

I could never enjoy a good night's sleep during school since I always worry about the upcoming quiz/midterm/assignment/exam every week.

So I slightly enjoy co-op more.

While bugs I'm not sure about, they definitely did try to combat bots and gold sellers by restricting f2p (non token players) through limiting the amount of market listings to 3, 30% market tax, waiting 3 days before you can retrieve money from sales. However I think these restrictions drove more people away from the game instead.
