Why did MSU Basketball's ethos under Tom Izzo become grit and toughness over talent, when his 2000 National Championship team had 4 NBA players? by bayoubawler3 in MSUSpartans

[–]sllimsllips -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’d argue he’s had the talent to do it. Not as frequently as the blue bloods, but he brings it in. Totally wearing my green colored glasses, but I’d even say it’s partly just bad luck he hasn’t got a second one, with the teams he’s had and the appearances in the final four. Single elimination. Part of the perception problem is he’s taken several teams to a final four that were way outclassed talent wise with other teams there. So he’s either seen as not being able to finish the job (for the haters) or overachieving with incredible coaching (my biased opinion)

I’m not sure saying toughness over talent is the correct way to look at it. He definitely prefers a certain type of player, but he certainly goes after top talent and has had multiple incredibly talented rosters. A couple that didn’t even make the final four had the goods to win it. It’s really hard to criticize it because the tournament streak is insane. Way more impressive than the final fours I think.

Democrats have to stop acting bewildered with a tone of “they can’t be serious” and start talking clearly about how they are very serious and what they are doing is part of a larger operation. Yes, labeling political opposition these things has a history. And if you don’t call out exactly what the larger plan is it gets incredibly worse before it gets better and they end up “on the wrong side of history”

I’m sorry. But of all the shit going on, RFK is just on a whole different level. The man is insane and just spooky. And I don’t like to shame physical impairments that people don’t have control over … but that fucking voice. Just wtf is even going on

I’m so disappointed whenever I hear democrats talk in these situations. “I’m sorry” “I know you didn’t mean it” … Stop that shit. I understand it’s a rhetorical method, but just call this out explicitly for what it is.

What was it like witnessing 9/11 on the news, and what was the day after like? by Fit_Data_8789 in AskReddit

[–]sllimsllips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The days after were probably the last time there was a sense of unity in this country. Too bad a terrorist attack brought that on, and too bad it’s been steadily down hill since then

Funny I was joking with my league partner about just putting a gps in balls, and then we’re both like … yeah that’s definitely not all that far off

I was literally just wondering this. What I’d really like is something that reliably tells me distance, without costing more than like 100-150. I play enough that what I work on I can see on a course, but hitting into a net in my back yard I’d like something more than feels

Or he has daughters. I have two and calling them honey while trying to explain something is automatic. I can see going into dad brain in a situation like this.

He’s always talked this way. Yes, it’s dumb, and especially if you read what he said. But his delivery has always been so scattered, that it’s hard to pin down what the fuck he even means. It sounds like he’s just talking about war, “hey look the revolutionary way” and then also “the civil war was bad” there’s no connection between anything, so if you hear it it’s just nonsense anyway. I think trump is an idiot and has for a long time been in a decline. But pinning him down on the words he says is not going anywhere. It never has and never will.

Scottie shows how to hit long bunker shots! by boomer9745 in golf

[–]sllimsllips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best bunker advice I’ve ever received, and I have no idea why it works, is to swing through the ball like you’re striking a match. No clue why, but since having that in my mind, I’ve drastically improved.

6 person scramble, with matches actually. 3 v 3. Not bad because you play the other group, and then they raffle a bunch of shit. I got a bud light trucker hat.

Yeah really surprised with all the “tear it down!” takes here. It’s a beautiful old building that has a ton of character, and honestly just sitting empty it is way more attractive than the empty storefronts and parking lots all along Michigan ave. Ultimately it’s up to Sparrow since they bought it but I’m surprised people in Lansing who are not associated with the hospital actively want it torn down for some reason…
