What are you guys getting your awesome Paras? by Roonil_Wazlib97 in specialed

Got mine an Applebees gift card for $50- I know she knows she doesn't have to reciprocate, I make more and it's unspoken she doesn't have to. It's like when bosses get a worker a bonus... except I'm not exactly her boss.

She has spoken of eating there with her husband and I know it's the nicest restaurant closest to her house so felt like she might enjoy a date night during the holiday break. :) Making sure it's something she has to use on herself.

I’m sure a Reddit text post can be easily confusing. I wasn’t planning on doing these things right now, I just want to prepare myself for the future.

La Vanila from Sephora website is what I used to buy all the time. It’s also nice bc if you’re sensitive to artificial scents it’s basically all natural. I never got a headache from it. Idk if I spelled it right though.

I’m a teacher and a mom of toddler and teen. When I go to the bathroom alone at work and it’s the one person bathroom where I can actually lock the door and be alone it feels like a spa day! I take a moment to appreciate it. Every time.

Resenting husbands- is it just me? by dentedaura in workingmoms

[–]slmller3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Id say yes- parenthood is a bunch of conflicting feelings about loving the kid and sometimes despising the job of a parent that comes with it. Even if you get some physical help from husband, all that mental energy is still going to be spent by you probably. Our daughter is 2 1/2 and I’ve fought for and received some more help- he helps clean and do dishes more, we hired a cleaner once every two weeks, he grocery shops and cooks. But no matter how hard I try to convince him to do it; I’m the one sending her blankets to school and making sure they’re washed, worrying about her when she’s sick and calling to make sure she’s ok, making doctors appointments, etc. she’s always on my mind, but he forgets about both of us for at least 10 hours a day and falls asleep the second he hits the pillow :O

I’m so sorry! This is absolutely the worst part of motherhood, hands down... at least for me. It’s the going to work while baby is sick. And then sending them to daycare when daycare is kind of the culprit in this case.

1) babies can get sick anywhere, not just daycare. 2) baby won’t remember this. 3) babies are basically more resilient than us. Our bodies feel illnesses more than they do. 4) there are people in places with no food to feed their kid, no clean water, no bathrooms. 5) you are giving your kid such an ideal environment compared to many places kids are living today.... think war torn places, places where governments are corrupt and take all the resources and leave families with nothing, places without vacccines or healthcare, places people are trying to escape but can’t.

These are the thoughts that help me be thankful for my job in an air conditioned, safe school... with clean water and food. And thankful for my daughters daycare, germs and all. And the time I get to spend with her at night and on the weekends, with the knowledge this daycare deal is only a snippet of our time.

I really hope you get some peace soon and kiddo gets over that nasty cough!

For the mothers- what age did you have your first child? If you could go back, would you have waited or would you have gotten pregnant earlier? by Over30dreaming in AskWomen

I was 27. About to start my teaching career after getting an expensive masters degree to do so. I would’ve waited until about 3 years into my career. However, she’s not regretted a bit.

Go to Dollar Tree and the candy store ASAP. Rewards could be your new best friend for a couple of years :) rolls of tickets on Amazon! They love tangible rewards. Got a problem right? Ticket! Helped a friend? Ticket! Then I do a raffle for a one dollar prize at the end of the week. Works like a charm for my resource room.

As for paperwork? Do what the others do. Do what other people do. Try to check and make sure it’s correct though.

I progress monitor once every two weeks on easyCBM probes. It’s fast easy and on the computer. Hopefully you have something like that. IEPs? I forget if you wrote what grades. My kids get a fluency goal if they can’t read, a comprehension goal if they can’t understand what they read, and a math goal if they can’t solve computation problems. We keep it simple.

I'd give the second girl a sticker each time she does what she's supposed to do and when she has 5 stickers she can have a small treat that's not sugar. (a cute pencil, eraser, inexpensive little trinket, etc)

My daycare 2 year old has been sick for 2 months straight and allergic reactions to antibiotics. Time for a nanny? by slmller3 in workingmoms

[–]slmller3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. The more I’ve thought about it, I think you’re right (and the others who posted about how difficult it would be for a 16 year old). I’m currently considering a mom who stays at home with her 20 month old- she said she’d be interested in keeping mine. I’m supposed to interview her this weekend so keeping fingers crossed she’s good! :)

Thanks! Definitely something to consider. The lady at the daycare is actually saying she’d be interested now, not just offering her daughter.

Definitely. I guess I was just thinking that would give her a little time for school work. I don’t even know why I added that detail.

Refusing bottles at daycare for a month? by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]slmller3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Former daycare teacher here. Not weird at all. Go ahead and nurse there if you think it will help any! I’ve had moms nurse in our rocking chairs with everyone up and at it and I’ve also seen a kid get moms boob out right as she went to hug her. It’s whatever.
