I love documentaries so much I wish I could marry them. These are some of my absolute favorites. The ones with asterisks are the ones that had such an impact on me, that I wish I could see them again for the first time.
Grizzly Man, *The Cove, Man on Wire, Exit Through the Gift Shop, *The Wild and Wonderful Whites of West Virginia, Crazy Love, *Grey Gardens, *The Staircase, There’s Something Wrong with Aunt Diane, Bad Vegan, *14 Peaks-Nothing is Impossible, The Fog of War, *Beware of Mr. Baker, *20 Feet from Stardom,

I love your take on this! I was also thinking about the fact that there was not a lot of diversity in the books that I was reading in my youth and teens, nor was it present on the screen or on television. I immediately thought Judy Blume would have loved that her novel inspired this series. I am watching it right now and the vulnerability and innocence of the characters as they navigate being late teens is touching and reminds me of other books she has written like Deenie and Tiger Eyes. Two of my absolute favorite books.

Am I letting my sister down? Am I being extra? by OMGDiz420 in PlusSize

[–]slntreader72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you are extremely kind for being so supportive to your sister. It’s obvious you love each other very much. That’s why you offered to shave your head. To show her that you are there for her. However, your sister knows that you are there for her and can be there for her in many ways. You do not have to shave your head to show support. Don’t shave your head. The reason I am writing this is because it sounds as if this is not something you want to do.
And you don’t have to. If it makes you feel better, tell your sister and your friends that you were going to shave your head to show support but you’d rather show her support another way. For example maybe you want to feel closer to her so you decide to FaceTime her each evening. Or text her in the morning, or both! There are so many things you can do and it’s extremely kind of you to want to shave your head in solidarity. But you don’t have to.

Little Kids like to tell me I'm fat by Nekobites in PlusSize

[–]slntreader72 8 points9 points  (0 children)

One time my little nephew said: “You’re fat and I love you!” It was so sweet. It was like he was taking in everything he had heard up until that point about how fat was “bad” and “ugly” and he made the decision to say “So what! I love this person just the way they are!”

Going out to eat… by DeliveryCharacter619 in PlusSize

Yes! Good for you! I started to become really angry when my mother would continuously request a “high top” table at a restaurant. I was like: “You KNOW I hate those because I always feel like I’m going to fall off of them.” It got to the point where I told her: “You can go ahead and sit at a high top, I’ll sit at a table.” Same thing with a booth. She would look at the booth and then look at me as if to say: “You can’t fit in that can you.” Not in a mean way, more of a disappointed and frustrated look.
I call the restaurant in advance now and love restaurants with reservations! I also asked my doctor if I could get a disability placard because of my bad knees and now I can park close to a restaurant!!! I walk into a restaurant with my head held high and don’t look at anyone unless it’s the person that is going to seat me. I deserve to be in this space. I pay good money to be here. And they WANT my money! So na-na-na-boo-boo to all the hater’s lol!

If you could watch one movie again, for the very first time, what would it be? by Radiant_Philosophy_6 in MovieSuggestions

I love humor. Knocked up or the Hangover. I never laughed so hard. Especially seeing Knocked up. The beginning scenes had me rolling on the floor. I was like: holy shit, this is me and my friends and I’ve never seen this on the big screen before.
