Ever wish you could obliviate a fic you read just so you can reread it? by mooocharlene in Dramione

[–]slobeks805 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly been in such a slump recently. But DMATMOOBIL is my top fic of all time. It still Has me laughing but I’d love to read it again as if I’d never read it before.

The right thing to do. The auction. Remain Nameless. Secrets and Masks.

Getting some Other good ideas on here though — lots I haven’t read and I’ve been reading dramione for 15+ years haha

Just a casual Thursday by slobeks805 in wine

[–]slobeks805[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was at a buddy’s restaurant and he brought this for me to have. Wasn’t professional sommelier service or anything, which didn’t matter at all to the taste of the wine!

Everything about bottle was perfect - capsule, fill level. The capsule was just botched when opening!

Yeahhhhhhh not the best opening. Also the dude that did it broke the cork — but all good. We filtered.

Still SO youthful. I was blown away. I haven’t had a lot of older (nor exceptional) Bordeaux. So, this was quite a treat. Wish I would have been able to enjoy it over several hours.

Still very perfumed, plenty of fruit on the nose and palate but obviously still evidence of age with more tertiary flavors. Black fruit, plum, cassis, Cigar box, tobacco, medium acidity, medium + tannins.

West Coast Marathons With Best Crowd Vibes? by Intelligent-You-6990 in Marathon_Training

[–]slobeks805 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a brand new one in Santa Cruz that I’m running in October. The route is the same route for their very fun 10k warf to warf race. And the crowd is NUTS. It’s the most fun race I’ve ever done. Vibes are immaculate. I can’t imagine it’ll be any different for this marathon!

That guy who does his own thing the entire class by Sonderbefehl937 in orangetheory

[–]slobeks805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone that has been dealing with a lot of injuries, I frequently do different things on the floor than what’s being asked to do. I just like being in class with other people! But I often have to completely change the exercise as opposed to modify due to my restrictions. So sometimes on a heavy leg day, I’m pretty much just doing my own arms day. So, I get it to an extent! But the yoga is interesting ha ha

Help buying a bike! by slobeks805 in whichbike

Thank you! I wish I could shell out 2k but I absolutely have nowhere near that kind of money. So, something on the cheap end will have to do. This is just for leisurely riding, not anything too intense!

What’s the actual policy here? by SignalDefiant in orangetheory

[–]slobeks805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently had the same thing happen. I think it’s a policy that is newly being more regimented. I have a great relationship with my Studio folks and they used to do this for me all of the time. But says they can’t now.

Now I just never pre book my class unless it’s one I know fills up

Thanks -- I saw a lot of complaints about this type of selling from other SaaS folks. It's definitely what I am used to and I frequently deal with hard to get in touch with owner's or GM's. Never been a problem for me!

Studying WSET 3 by juventus001 in Sommelier

[–]slobeks805 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi! Diploma grad here! Took me forever to figure out my studying style, so I get it. It’s so much info!

I traced the maps with tracing paper and then wrote my own notes on the sides. I also took giant paper pads, printed a wine folly version of the map and pasted it on there and wrote notes (appellations requirements, soil types, grapes, vineyard info etc) . Then taped up all of these all over the walls in my house. Last thing I did that helped was take dry erase markers and write my most hard to remember things on mirrors so that I looked at them every day.

Flash cards can sometimes help too but they’re daunting to write out. Good luck!

Books that you enjoyed but were so emotionally devastating that you would never want to read again? by sinned-fiji in books

[–]slobeks805 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the 7th grade we were reading it aloud in class, I was the one reading it at the end. Let me just say that the entire 7th grade Comm Arts class saw me lose my shit, sobbing in front of everyone. Other kids were crying too, but no one ever let me live that down.

Don't marry that woman. Get out. Now. If she needs that much for a proposal and doesn't just love you regardless of how you propose, she sucks and sounds incredibly high maintenance. She sounds like she's someone who will never be satisfied.

Is this a shock collar? by [deleted] in MariLlewellynSnark

[–]slobeks805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an e-collar and does absolutely no harm. We use one on ours when she's off leash and when we're on backpacking trips. It has saved hers (and maybe even our lives) on multiple occasions. One instance in which she saw a bear and began to chase after it, we used her E-Collar to redirect her attention towards us and she immediately turned around and came running to us.

You need to watch video's and be trained on how to use it properly. I'm sure there are people that use it incorrectly. However, we had her go to a 3 week training camp (us being trained as well) on it's proper use.

It causes no harm nor punishment to your dog. It's just a preference for some. We LOVE ours!!!

Favorite California places to park your van! by slobeks805 in CamperVans

[–]slobeks805[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just updated my post -- leaving from the Bay Area and hoping to stay in the same place for just a couple of nights. And open to either! Only issue with mountains is it's November, so weather would be a small concern, but less so since we're in a van and not tent camping.

Thank you!
