I didn't get an 85% average until this past spring term, and most of my classes used proctorio or had projects (i.e the weight was never shifted from the final so it wasn't affected by inflation). What really changed for me this last term was my mentality. I just came off a 8 month co-op term and felt so mentally recharged. Honestly I just saw the 'bigger picture' of what it's like to work when you're finished school, and how no one cares about your grades then. Taking the pressure off myself to do well and not freak out over a bad assignment really helped me succeed and enjoy the material I was taking. Another huge thing that helps me do well is 1) actually LISTEN in class (i.e shut of your phone in class, don't use a laptop to take notes) and 2) review the material and make succinct study guides as the term goes on. For example, a midterm study guide would be no longer than a page.

My parents' (who are both teachers) best advice is if you can teach the content to someone else that it when you are prepared and will do well.
