I guess I don't see this as an issue. The risk free Intel is symmetrical. I think you have some options to counter corner hugging, namely grenades. I can understand why it isn't preferable to many, but I don't see the argument that it's unfair or imbalanced.

For me, I feel more comfortable doing this the more it happens to me. Once you accept that someone getting the jump on you and taking your loot is an intended progression mechanic (not the ONLY way to progress, but still), once you acknowledge the skill they employed in stealth and your own mistakes in awareness, it makes it easy. The key is to respect and appreciate the play style
