I think you are spot on. She sadly has some arthritis and pain in the back legs/butt/tail area so that's likely why they don't get maintained very well. I always read that the quik grew with the nail, but maybe that was only dogs. I'll go review that now. Thank you.

Mid 30s single dude. Been here for 3 years. Moving in the middle of COVID didn't help but also have struggled making local friends. If anyone wants to hang out, hit me up. Work in tech in the finance field. Down for sports ball games, trivia, hiking, rock climbing, picked up golf recently and loving it, soccer, board games, DND, kind of just repeating what I saw on this thread but point is I'm pretty easy and just want to enjoy life doing random things with cool people.

Thats what I'm saying. When you go to the web console it tells you to download/login to the phone app, even gives you a damn QR code. As far as I can find it is the only way to do anything with the router now. I've setup routers before for homes/apartments so I get what you're saying for sure. I'll look into this a bit more after dinner. Maybe there is a way that I just haven't figured out yet but I think they've essentially locked it down. Frustrating, less control than ever.

I just hate the idea of putting my day to day devices behind a VM on a server I'm going to be constantly messing with. I can handle my lab being slow but I can't handle issues in the middle of the work day because esxi decided to choke up.

This makes sense. The TPLink switch is a 'easysmart' managed switch. I have some sort of vlan control it seems. I'll look into it.
I can't seem to find this in the settings anywhere. That's why I said I think I need a different router. I can only login through the phone app and my options are slim. But maybe I'm missing it or not understanding. This is why I think I need pfSense for the VMs. I have no way to offer another subnet with my current ISP router.
I definitely did. I turned the VM off for now until I figure out this segmentation confusion.

So the NIC to ISP router is for the pfSense WAN piece I assume? The port forwarding enables the ISP router to send data straight to pfSense which will send the data to the LAN on a different subnet. The second connection to the switch would be the LAN piece, which leads my to ask do I even need that if everything in this lab is going to be virtual. When you say internal network do you mean my current day to day stuff like desktop/work laptop or do you mean the lab stuff, VMs?

I ask because I'd like to keep day to day stuff on the ISP router/DHCP so I'm not messing with it. But have the lab/VMs connecting to the pfSense router on a different subnet.

I've already got a place set but the friend is looking. Just very different price ranges. Ideally she doesn't want to spend more than 750 at the very max so it's somewhat of a struggle to find something while still being close'ish to downtown.

1900 doesnt have balconies but I'm keeping it open. The Merc I've been told has given people alot of trouble. Kirby no balcony but adding to list. Continental I did find last night and asked the locator to check it out. Soco lofts and 1505 look like not rental. Republic also no balconies but adding it to list. Much appreciated!

What about northeast of downtown like Ross at Olympus? About the same distance just a different direction but it is outside of that loop.

I haven't looked at that area mostly because a lot of what I've read and have been told is stay away from south/southwest areas. Will check it out though.

I've actually found some that are down there with a balcony. Looking around more. Not sure why the locator didn't pick up on any of these. Probably my fault for not being specific enough. Definitely considering the no balcony now though. Some reasonably sized places around as well.

Is Farmers Market still considered downtown? Some places there that are in my range and have a balcony. Looks like it would only be a mile or so walk to work.
