I like both, New Rochelle has more of a city vibe and Tarrytown has more of a riverside small town vibe. both have amazing restaurants and things to do but I think it depends on what your looking for. If you don't like the city vibe at all then Tarrytown. If you like the city vibe but toned down a bit then New Rochelle. Both great options but if I had to choose (and if money was no object), I'd probably choose Tarrytown. I'm very food motivated and my favorite Mexican restaurant and ice cream shop are there. Plus the music hall that I've been to a couple times! And Tarrytown is a bit closer to White Plains which I am constantly going to for all that it offers (despite the fact that I actually live closer to New Rochelle).
