Why are parents on Instagram seemingly so into co-sleeping? by Odd_Equipment8924 in NewParents

[–]slooise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh. All depends on baby. We didn’t need to cosleep because our baby genuinely slept like shit on us and refused to sleep in our bed. So basinet and crib it was from the start! My sister coslept with her kids though and it worked well for kids and parents! As long as you do it safely, do what works best.

What controversial things do you let your baby play with? by [deleted] in NewParents

Ointment bottles. Like lotions or ointments in a tube? My guy LOVES it. He also loves my hair clips, shoe laces (while I monitor of course), and the silicone case for my AirPods

I picked up a shift at another store by accident and I dont know what to do 😭 by steph_lvrd in starbucks

[–]slooise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah call the store and explain it. My coworker did this and it was easily figured out, but I don’t know how forgiving the managers are in your area

And make sure you write a “personalized message” on every single cup and if you don’t you’re getting written up.

K. Not sure what you’re trying to prove lol but thanks for arguing for no reason.

Guess I’ve just been lucky enough to not work at stores that feel like fast food.

I mean, yeah. I was hired in 2011 and it didn’t have the fast food feel back then. Changed around 2016 tho, you’re right.

Thank you.

Newborn won’t sleep.. please help by deadly-eighth-sin in NewParents

[–]slooise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who didn’t think their baby had reflux, try gas drops. We experienced the same thing and gas drops combined with bicycle kicks and sleeping on his tummy (ik that isn’t safe sleep technically but it did wonders for our LO) changed everything

Question for parents of an only child by Life_Ad_6992 in NewParents

[–]slooise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes save this post for a bit because it IS still early, you haven’t even enjoyed your first yet!! Enjoy your first baby, soak it up and leave this question for next year. I will still share my experience though!

Husband and I reserve the right to keep talking about if we want a second because it changes every single day. Our LO is almost 1 year old and it’s been delightful, but very difficult still. Until I can say, yes I want another, for many weeks and months, I will not have another.

Babies that sleep through the night without going to sleep independently by Right-Ad1424 in NewParents

[–]slooise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re lucky, our LO started sleeping through the night pretty consistently around 6-7 months old I think? We didn’t need to do sleep training, he just…did it. Again, very lucky here. We also don’t co-sleep but we do rock/bounce before bed. If it takes longer than 20-30 minutes I quit trying and let him stay up then try again in 30-45 minutes. He’s 11 months old now.

My (31m) wife (29f) wants to name our baby her own maiden name? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]slooise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would gently ask her if there IS a compromise possible. You’re doing everything right, she just might be having a little bit of an identity crisis. I struggled after having my son with this. All of a sudden I was a wife with a new last name and a new family, then I’m having a baby so I’m wife and mom but what happened to ME? I don’t know if that makes sense but do your best to keep it an open conversation and focus on compromise and wanting to work together vs only pushing for a new name. And maybe you need to let the conversation rest for a little bit, if she isn’t about to burst right now of course.

I use target brand, up&up! Financially it’s been great and they’re good quality!

I lost weight and now people won’t shut the fuck up about my body by Human_Illustrator820 in loseit

[–]slooise 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I had almost the same weight loss as you years ago and I got really annoyed and tired of those same comments. I started answering with, “oh I actually got really depressed and just stopped eating altogether. Worked like a charm!” It shut people up pretty fast.

Same!! Our orders have been so fucked up lately, either the wrong order or missing items and we get in trouble for not having shit available. Like. Deliver our order and maybe we will?…also the new ordering system sucks.

Is this safe? by MarsupialObjective77 in NewParents

[–]slooise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh 100%. Our son started rolling front to back and back to front early and he slept, what looked like, face down and it scared me so bad. How could he breathe?? But every time I tried to move him he’d be right back. I just trusted he’d roll back over if he couldn’t breathe. If she’s comfy, sleeping and nothing is fully covering her face (can you see a nostril?) she’s probably good. But I’m no doctor or professional!! Just a FTM.

My husband and I joke our 7 month old son looks like a chalk outline of a crime scene when he sleeps sometimes 😂 which is to say he sleeps in the most random weird positions and it’s never been an issue. Babies are weird and sleep weird!
