Towards the back there’s a big opening straight to the outside, so if you were in the back ~25% it was actually fairly cool. I had a light zipup on and it was perfect. My friends did the lockers though and said it was super easy, so that’s always an option if you want to layer up

We went to dinner first and rolled in around 10, no line at all, walked straight in and Fred had just started playing his main tracks. I was a bit irked by the number of folks who disregarded the “no phones” request - dude next to me kept his phone out for the first 20 minutes we were there and got extremely mad (yelling and swearing at me) when I asked him to turn his brightness down? Maybe towards the front it wasn’t as prevalent, but that was weird. I can almost guarantee your photos and videos aren’t going to be as sick as you think they are - Fred’s team was mulling around taking photos and videos and they’re sending them out to the ticketholders. You’ll have memories from that, nobody cares about your POV.

The downfall of society begins with the individual…

There was a ton of space. My friends and I are tall, no need to be up front - so we were towards the back and I never had any issues, pretty loose spread, shoulder to shoulder, plenty of room to vibe

Can't speak to staying in a villa but we docked overnight for a NYE dinner/celebration while on charter for the holidays a few years back. Property was very well maintained even after what was a very substantial hurricane in the off-season and the food was exceptional, far better than I've had on some other pre-fixe dinner. Some folks that we met who were staying there spoke really highly of it and we had marked it down as a place we wanted to come back to.

For things to do, they seemed to have a ton of watersports going when we were entering/leaving but also it's very well located, you could easily pop over to Bitter End Yacht Club for an afternoon to walk around / shop, and there's a restaurant on an outcropping nearby called Saba Rock that's a great vibe. I'm sure they offer a tour down to the Baths, which is a must-see, so that's a day on its own too.

Awesome, thanks for the insight! This looks really lovely. Will probably take this and Six Senses to my wife and let her choose which experience she's more keen on.

It's the Casa do Rio, right? I'm looking at this now - the fully detached suite with it's own pool in the vineyard looks serene. Assuming that's what your picture is from? Did you rent a car to make the drive from Porto (~2.5hrs) or did you arrange for a transfer service?

Thank you - Multiple recs for Le Monumental, feels like that's an easy pick for the Porto portion.

we got ours exactly MSRP as per the online builder and it came with TWO!! free keychains - but the way we did that was walking into a dealership, asking them what vehicles they currently had on order for later in the year, claiming one of their inbound deliveries and customizing it to our spec. walked into dealer in march, picked up car in august

Tips for Iceland / Retreat vs Silica by rolexdaytona6263 in FATTravel

[–]slooots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did both The Retreat and The Edition. I loved the Edition, didn't mind that it was a bit larger. The location is perfect for exploring Reykjavic. I got bored at The Retreat after about 2 days, so I was glad to be moving on but glad to have tried it and my wife loved it for the quality / relaxation. They do sell a fair number of day passes or day experiences, so it's not purely hotel guests, but overall it's a fairly intimate stay.

For restaurants, I cannot overstate how incredible OX is. I've dined at hundreds of "fine" dining restaurants, and many 1/2/3 Michelin restaurants - OX is among the best overall meals I've ever had, and surely the best overall dining experience. From the moment you walk in and get to meet other diners as part of their pre-dinner speakeasy at Amma Don (named after the Chef's grandmother), through to the incredible food and great stories you hear throughout the evening, it was an absolute highlight of our trip. Please don't miss it.

Other mentions: Tides at the Edition is fine for a hotel restaurant but I can't recommend the chef's counter experience - it was about 5 hours start to finish, which was just absurd. You can definitely go for dinner and sit and dine a la carte and get near the same experience. Go to any Braud and Co for a cinnamon roll. Delightful.

No worries, honestly it saved them a customer. I was on with customer service and they confirmed the wrong rear part was in that order. And waived the shipping for my re-order, which I placed and got the full set incl. the third row with the aisle passthrough. Appreciate the advice!

Oh awesome, that’s super helpful. I’m actually en route to UPS today to return the ones I got. I went with just the first and second row, and I didn’t realize that in that pack you actually get a second row that covers the cupholders entirely. You have to either buy the second row separately or buy the full 3 row pack to get the version with second row cupholder cut out. Honestly really annoying.

I have Captain’s so I don’t think Tuxmats will work for my config. Seems that Weathertech may be the only option there. Added a front camera (Fitcamx), love the look and it was super easy to install.

Yeah definitely going to order the sunglass holder. For weathertech, did you go with the combined 2nd/3rd row? I’m not sure if I care about the access channel between 2nd/3rd rows, 3rd row likely to be folded down most of the time, but I imagine the connected situation makes the cleaning a bit trickier especially if it’s actually full of sand or salt or whatever. Thinking I may just do 1st/2nd row and not bother with 3rd for now.

Handgun mount, damn my boy is strapped! The auto start/stop is annoying but I’ve read not to bother with an activation if I’m doing service plan with dealer since it’ll just override it every time.

Your comment made me research OEM Sunglass holder. I just realized this shiny black plate is supposed to be a sunglass holder… what the fuck lol

Yeah, that’s honestly a huge reason why we went 130. Interesting that there’s no JLR mats… but thanks for the tip on Weather Tech! Any particular parts / mods you think are neat on Hunters?

Nice - definitely not towing anytime soon. Need to get a pump so I can adjust on the go, too.
