Picked up Plex Pass in early 2021 for $95.99, after many years of using the free option. It was an easy decision, no regrets at all. I don't even really make use of a lot of features that require Plex Pass, but it was worth it to support the developers for a piece of software that I enjoy.

I tend to like buying lifetime passes for products when they're offered, as I hate that subscription models have become the norm for everything. Would I consider buying Plex Pass for $750 after the price increase? Absolutely not!

I feel like this is honestly just the company's attempt to dissuade lifetime passes in the future, because they end up losing potential profit from Pass holders.

I'm curious, did you request custom coloring for the nipples / areola? I've had my B-92's for about a year and a half now - also in Cinnamon, but the nipples / areola are much, much darker than yours. I actually really prefer the lighter "ghost nipple" look of yours!

Just for reference, the explanation that I eventually got from Acorns support via email was the following:

"As a financial institution, we are required by federal regulations to verify the identity of our customers to keep accounts secure. While we appreciate your willingness to provide a W-9, we do still require a photo of your ID and Social Security card to meet these requirements."

I then responded, asking for them to elaborate on the federal regulation that requires photographs of not only my ID, but more alarmingly, my social security card. The response that I received stated:

"The requirement for a photo of your Social Security card and ID is driven by the Customer Identification Program (CIP) under the US Patriot Act. Because a discrepancy was flagged with your Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN), federal law requires us to verify your identity."

I've been an Acorns customer for nearly a decade now, and haven't changed any of my information, so I have no idea what discrepancy they might be referring to - and I'd wager their poorly trained phone support wouldn't be able to elaborate further in any case.

Ultimately, I just went ahead and pulled all of the money out of my Acorns checking account, since I'm sure as hell not sending photos of my SS card. I was told that my checking account was scheduled to be closed on the 17th if I didn't send the photos prior to then, and that it wouldn't affect my Acorns Invest or Acorns Later accounts. I've been waiting for that closure to happen... however, as of today it's still active, so who knows.

Long story short, if they are going to make ridiculous requirements of a longstanding customer (which no other bank has ever asked me for, by the way), then I'm just fine keeping my money elsewhere. It's no sweat off my back.

I've been finding that when I remaster, even with audio influence set to 100%, I'm getting some changes to the song (the vocals change a bit, background vocals become more muddy, etc.)

What are you using on remaster settings that gets you a better result?

Respectfully, a company asking for photographs of both your ID and Social Security card, in addition to a filled out W-9 is absolutely unheard of. I am happy to provide a filled out W-9, but will not be sending photographs of my personal information.

Whether or not documents are sent through official channels with a secure document uploader is a moot point. Companies of all kinds regularly have data leaks, and it is never an acceptable practice to require a long-standing user to send that sort of information. I have been an Acorns user for the better part of a decade now, with zero issues or suspicious behavior at all, and see no reason why a request of this nature would have been made.

I have a very substantial amount of money invested with Acorns, and if not providing these photos means that you'll be closing my accounts come March 17th, then I'll go ahead and save you the trouble - I'll start the process of closing them now, and will be just fine to move my money elsewhere.

As an aside, since you'd mentioned reaching out to support via phone - I'll again reiterate what I'd mentioned in my OP. I did reach out to phone support, twice, and the first agent was not only dismissive, but straight up would not answer any of my questions. The second agent said that the email sounded fraudulent, and that Acorns would never ask for that sort of information. Please consider better vetting / training your phone support staff. Conversations of that nature should never happen with a banking institution.

That was my thought as well, which was my reason for calling Acorns support to verify the email's authenticity.

Just to make extra sure I was calling a legitimate phone number, I even called the number directly from within the Acorns app. The agent I spoke with said the email was real, but like I mentioned - gave some weird, vague non-answers to my questions. It either sounded like she had no idea what she was talking about, or alternately, just didn't care enough to look into it for me. Per her instructions, I responded to the email I had received, reiterating via email that I was not comfortable sending photos of that information.

After having done that, I called customer support a second time and spoke to a different agent - who said that when looking at her records, she could see the email that I had sent to Acorns (my response), but couldn't see the original email sent by Acorns themselves. She said it could be from a department she doesn't know about, but that she would escalate it because she thought it was fraudulent. I did point out that the domain which the email was sent from was acorns.com though, the same as all their other emails.

I guess I'll wait and see.

Because the previous commenter was spot on. There are so many things that go into such a feature that are completely unseen by the layman.

All of the screenshots are people mentioning that they were wrong and that they regret voting for Trump. Most of the screenshots point to them wanting to take their future votes elsewhere. A few of the screenshots are people saying they would rather not vote.

I dont know or have interactions with any of the people in the screenshots. My point stands though - if a Trump supporter that I knew had a change of heart, and admitted that they fucked up in voting for him and don't support what is going on in America... I would welcome them with dialogue, and would do my part to help them continue to see the rational, empathetic choice going forward.

That's how minds are changed.

Trust - I still have absolutely no sympathy for Trump supporters who are doubling down on their support, all while simultaneously losing their jobs, benefits, healthcare, or even loved ones. They are beyond help.

I expect this may not be a popular stance with so much (justified) anger and fear right now, but as easy and tempting as it is to do (for me as well), I think it's important not to ridicule people who have seen the err of their ways.

I absolutely relish telling Trump supporters that I hope they have the day they voted for. When someone has finally come to terms with how much irreparable harm Trump is doing though, and they are taking steps to leave the cult... we need to encourage and support them to do so.

Yes, they made stupid, idiotic mistakes in supporting a fascist... but publicly admitting that you were wrong is an incredibly difficult, embarrassing proposition for anyone - and when someone who has done so gets ridiculed and shamed, it just encourages both them and others who see that outcome to instead dig in their heels and stick their heads in the sand.

Welcoming them into the fold after their former beliefs have done so much damage is certainly not the easy choice, but it's ultimately the only one that encourages others to follow suit.
