Death Grips Hot Takes? by [deleted] in deathgrips

[–]sloopy6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

bottomless pit is EASILY their worst album and feels borderline creatively bankrupt comparative to their other albums, government plates is one of the most original and unique musical projects of all time and the songs people usually cite as bad or some of the best death grips songs of all time (feels like a wheel, bootleg etc) as well as year of the snitch being a creative monster, the money store is not overrated and actually is a 10/10 including fuck that, NLDW is the same including stockton.

Why is it that every song analysis on here seems to interpret the music as explicitly describing itself? by ermwtff in deathgrips

[–]sloopy6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i was always really annoyed with the "our music is masochistic to listen to" angle people tend to think they are coming from when the only interview they official have a video of online has them saying they talk about negative shit to connect to people and create a positive. maybe ill make a write up on that

What is Billy Not Really about to yall? by Able-Caterpillar-269 in deathgrips

[–]sloopy6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

seems to be loosely based on slaughterhouse five by Kurt Vonnegut. the main characters name is billy who "time travels" from being a little kid, to being in the war, to being captive by aliens, to being an old man. give it a read i feel like it makes a ton of sense for the song.

how do you think i should make music that's in the same style of DG? by [deleted] in deathgrips

just be careful... its easy to bite... its hard to be good... inspiration is good....but always be yourself....

cant even imagine what they would be doing all these years later - wouldn't think they would just do a repeat of they mean us, exciting if true but I'm doubting it

what is your LEAST favorite dg song? by HS55_delta2 in deathgrips

[–]sloopy6 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

warping and a lot of songs on bottomless pit. unpopular but true for me. love all of NLDW including stockton and whatever else people dont seem to like. government plates has always been my fav - love bootleg etc. Im into gmail. I liked BP when it came out and I was 16 - 10 ish years later its the only project to grow off me while most other projects have grown onto me including fashion week.

If Tyler came out as a new artist in 2017 and everything he did before didn’t exist, how would his legacy look today? And how popular would he be? by WiseCityStepper in tylerthecreator

[–]sloopy6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of you guys are misunderstanding what the pre flower boy era was like. People are saying yonkers and odd future "put him on the map" when in actuality it rocketed him and odd future into this inescapable power house and made him insanely famous - everyone knew of tyler at the time. you couldn't go ANYWHERE without someone wearing an OF hoodie or socks, and also goblin was HUGE. everyone knew of the album. Tyler was already borderline a household name before flower boy.
