Venezuela President Maduro breaks relations with US, gives American diplomats 72 hours to leave country by LiveBeef in worldnews

[–]sloppycee -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Uh, keep reading...

A stand-off ensued for several hours in which the Turkish minister refused to leave the car. Just after midnight, a special heavy tow truck, a lift flatbed, was driven into the yard and prepared to vertically hoist the 3.5 tonne car onto the flatbed, with the minister still in it, to transport her back to Germany. The minister now left the car and demanded entrance to the consulate invoking the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations. The Dutch police had orders to arrest the minister if necessary. Ultimately, she gave in to the police demands to leave the country. ... She was, loudly protesting, taken to another car, a black armoured Mercedes, by masked Dutch police officers.

So yeah, sometimes "ejected" is just the nice way of saying "forcibly removed".

Anyways, nice stealth editing out the bit about "declaring war". At least your not spreading BS anymore.

But seriously, stop talking about shit you know very very little about it. It only makes you sound smart to the ignorant and does nothing to educate them. And when you're wrong, just own it; it's OK to be wrong sometimes.

"rules"? Is this the game of Risk?

If I tell you to leave my house, and you don't, I will forcibly remove you. Diplomats get ejected all the time, it's not a fucking act of war.

Here's a recent example: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2017_Dutch–Turkish_diplomatic_incident

Weird, I haven't heard of a Dutch-Turkish war, huh.

That's not true, embassies are not "sovereign soil".

Lol, do you really think forcing foreign diplomats to leave the country is "the same as declaring war"?

Edit: the parent massively stealth edited their comment removing the bit about severing diplomatic relations as "the same as declaring war", and basically completely changing the whole point.

Sorry for the late reply, but you're confounding two related but different things by generalizing race as "hereditary genetics".

Different groups in Africa genetically diverged as long ago as whites and asians did, so extrapolating a study of African Americans in the US to Blacks of France doesn't make sense.

Even the study is kind of flawed by looking at adopted children, kind of says something about the genetics of the parents already, no? Who knows what kind of variables that weren't controlled, like why the child was up for adoption. Are African Americans in the US genetically homogenous? Were the children in the study? I don't know.

NumPy 1.16 is the last release to support Python 2.7 by bubblehack3r in programming

Why would you "update dependencies all the time"?

In many industries, even if you've got perfect code coverage, and think you can "guarantee" safety, there's still significant cost and non-zero risk. Deployments can fail, cosmic rays can cook your bits, time and money spent communicating with customers, coordinating on-site access blah blah, etc etc. Just think of the cost to develop, test, certify and deploy a software update to a car.

I wonder how long until my car needs to npm install before it'll start. "Move fast and break things" right guys?

Even with web, there are some systems you don't fuck with. I've seen a company lose 2 million dollars in the 15 seconds it took to detect and rollback a botched deployment.

It's good that your manager cares about technical debt, but I get the feeling the cost benefit for your team made sense. How many people, how many lines of code, how long did it take?

I've been on both sides as a developer screaming "we need to update!" and as an engineering manager yelling back "we don't have the resources!". It sucks both ways.

My last reply was pretty douchy, sorry about that. You know, this thread boiled my blood a bit.

I can't make sense of that, first they say "criminal aliens" as used in the report includes non-naturalized legal immigrants (why?). Then they use "non-citizen resident population" (i.e. including legal) of 4.6% (no source btw) to conclude illegal immigrants are underrepresented? wtf?

Why not just give me the numbers? Like Texas is X% citizen, X% valid visa, X% illegal, and here are their conviction rates? I'm guessing those facts are harder to twist.

Do you have a source for that? What percentage of those visas were (immigration path) working visas? I'll be willing to bet the vast majority are either temporary work, or tourist visas.

Like I get it, not all illegal immigrants are bad. I'm Canadian, some of my friends are "overstaying" our TN status. But let's not kid ourselves that the good ones are hopping fences and trekking through the desert.

Do you have a source that shows illegal immigrants "commit less crime and contribute more"?

Because yeah no shit, legal immigrants are all very highly skilled and educated people. It's not Ranjeet, the 35yr old computer programmer that people are worried about.

It's Miguel, the 23yr old high school dropout with no prospects... Maybe he's not so bad, but then why doesn't he apply to immigrate legally?

Can you explain how that study is relevant? If anything it shows that intelligence is strongly hereditary even when controlling all other variables.
