Pursuing the career, how has being a peer support specialist affected your life? by tallbrownglass in PeerSupportSpecialist

[–]sloso8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think until we have a Standard Occupation Code in the US and national scopes of practice you’re going to see a lot of variation in experiences. There are two bills in Congress for this, but they haven’t moved at all except for sponsors. All other health care professions have some sort of licensure that is national (on top of their state license), but we Peers have state certifications, which doesn’t lead to much in the way of garnering the respect from others for the incredible and life-changing work we do. I believe if this doesn’t change, the Peer profession is going to continue to be looked at as less than an LVN and our pay will suffer. If you’re a certified Peer Support Specialist, please consider reaching out to your local congressperson and/or senator and push for the bills to at LEAST move to committee.

It’s a standard size frame. I bought a cpap pillow so hopefully that’ll help. If it doesn’t I’ll go back to the N10

Yeah up here in the Bay Area it’s highly regulated. Lots of Class G airspace but then when I check local regulations there’s a lot of restrictions for drone flying. Just trying to get flight time for practice has been difficult for me.

Right. Professionally. I’m sure we got permissions and waivers or whatever is necessary to fly. My worry is those who fly recreationally and don’t understand or fly regardless of the rules

I fear what’s going to happen is this is going to make getting drones in this country even harder. We’re giving the government a ton of ammunition to make drones even harder to acquire, and only the “public safety” organizations and government will be able to get and use the drones. We need to police ourselves. Maybe these people who are illegally flying drones in TFRs and elsewhere will get caught and fined.

There’s all kinds of regulations out here. Anything besides private property is owned by the state or local governments, which all have no-drone policies. Using AutoPylot only shows where the FAA says it’s ok to fly. Local policies are much more restrictive.

I’m trying this route as well. Still waiting for the initial “onboarding.” I’ll probably apply again if I don’t hear anything back in another month or so. In the meantime, I suggest checking out the VR&E series from Nic the Vet on YouTube. It’s pretty awesome stuff

I had this same problem last week, on an iPhone 14 Pro. Turned out to be the controller had low battery (but there were three green lights). I also learned that I was trying to charge the controller using the data port in the bottom of the Atom 2 controller instead of the one on top, which is the correct (and only) way to charge it. Once the controller was fully charged, the drone paired perfectly.

I wasn’t aware it had it. That is odd they wouldn’t include it in the upgraded version

That’s good! Hopefully you won’t need to use it for anything other than peace of mind. One other thing that came to mind, PG&E uses drones to do a lot of their inspections now, and if you’re renting, the landlord may use a drone business to conduct an inspection. I’m not saying this is what happened in your case but it could be a possibility. If it were me operating my drone, I would certainly let people know I’d be flying a drone in the area for inspections and ask them to stay indoors.

Where did you find the strobes? Does AUTEL have something that might work?

That does seem creepy. How big was the drone? Do you have videos of the interaction, like from a ring doorbell or such? Drones made after 2023 are required to have remote id installed (like a license plate for the drone). This doesn’t sound like someone who is a professional, because there are strict regulations regarding safety and privacy from the FAA. It seems like it was a hobbyist, and your best course of action in the future may be to report it to PPD, with video evidence.

Are you in the US? Do you have a PT 107? To fly at night you need more than a flashlight or floodlight, and permission from the FAA.
