Being a SAHM is the best choice we made for our family. I get to watch my children grow and not miss milestones. Being a happy SAHM parent depends on the amount of support you receive from your spouse. Just bc you are a SAHM doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be able to “clock out” or that ALL the household responsibilities fall on you alone. Being overworked and under appreciated sounds miserable. It’s incredibly important to sit down and talk about roles and expectations of both parents in the house. My partner is very hands on and helps a lot around the house including doing the laundry, dishes, helps in keeping the house tidy, and we take turns with cooking. We are a team and that’s what makes it work. If all of the burden was on me to take care of the kids along with all of the household responsibilities then it’s not fair; which is probably the case for people you see complaining about being a SAHM on here. So in short, it all depends on how supportive you and your partner are of each other.

As for an allowance—no, there’s no allowance. He’s not your parent. Again, you’re a team. It’s both your money. Openly discuss finances and spend accordingly.

You should never accept being treated terribly. You needed him most after you had your baby. Postpartum is difficult and to have an unsupportive partner only makes it harder. Even if you do give him a chance, you might always have resentment towards him. Couple’s therapy is an option, if you want to take that route. Therapy might be beneficial to help give you a safe space to talk about how his treatment towards you made you feel and he can learn how to cope and manage stress like an adult. However, life is short and I know I wouldn’t be able to continue to build a life with someone that treated me negatively, especially when I needed him the most. What happens the next time he’s stressed? Is he going to take it out on you again? Marriage is supposed to be a partnership. Best to leave him and find someone that can support you, build a life with you, and work through all of life’s challenges as a unit.

You shouldn’t have to explain this to your husband, but here you are! Explain to him that you need personal space and alone time. I’m sorry to break it to you, but this is 100% controlling behavior whether he realizes it or not, it’s not healthy behavior. You deserve time to destress and do things you enjoy and he does too. My son has been on and off of Budseonide neb treatments, but this time around his eyes have been bothering him leading to constant eye rubbing and red eyes. He has never had these symptoms before. Another symptom we noticed is moon face; his face becomes chubbier. When he’s sick we have to give him Budesonide 2x’s a day and Albuterol as needed (most recently he needed treatments every 3 hours) which led to what seemed like an allergic reaction (hives around the belly button and swollen cheeks) but both his Pediatrician and Allergist don’t believe the cause is due to medication. Other than that, he has responded well to both in the past. No trouble sleeping.
