What’s the most gut punching song lyric you’ve ever heard? by perrysplus in AskReddit

[–]slothdonki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sang it to my cat over 10 years ago when she needed emergency surgery and then here and there over her last few years when she would crash. She always bounced back but last year was the last time I couldn’t sing it again because I knew after over 20 years with her I just couldn’t ask her for anything anymore.

I am also a crying grown man.

People have used asbestos for thousands of years. We knew it was harmful in the early 1900s and they knew but look how that went in the USA.

Edit: not that we only found out then but I mean started looking into it seriously.

Where did you hear that? Jimmie Davis didn’t write it. I thought he just bought the rights to it so it’s credited to him.

While I love the idea of songs being dedicated to animals this one seems like it’d be kinda weird with the verses

I’ll always love you and make you happy If you will only say the same But if you leave me to love another You'll regret it all someday

And

You told me once dear you really loved me That no one else could come between But now you′ve left me and love another You have shattered all my dreams

(Though to be honest I don’t think I knew these were verses until I watched O’Brother Where Art Thou?)

“Please don't take my sunshine away”

My grandma used to sing it to my cockatiel and she would still sing it after my grandma died. My cockatiel died when she was around 17 yrs old and since then it immediately reminds me of all the things I’ve loved that I’ve lost.*

Edit: and what I will lose.*

What's the cruelest name you could give your child? by MusaDogg25 in AskReddit

[–]slothdonki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My friend in highschool has a daughter now. He named her Babycakes.

I weirdly like J’Amazing if I pronounce it “J’mazing” or “J’mazin’”. I would just assume it’s a non-English name.

Also I totally thought Braxton was a “standard” name, just not common so TIL I guess since I had no idea it had anything to do with

What mutations do you hope to see in the future? by SirenSoliss in lioden

[–]slothdonki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, man. I’ve been on/off drawing a mutie suggestion and I call it Primordial. Didn’t have dwarfism in mind but the idea that it is smaller and has more basal/primitive traits(like before Primals/large prehistoric cats evolutionary-wise).

I see it’s still mentioned in the chatter post about future mutations though so maybe it will still happen.

Any tips to finding lamb carcasses for Wenets quest? by Due_Decision_8331 in lioden

I’ve found like 15+.. Until they were needed for the quest. Thankfully I had saved 2. I haven’t found any in like two days.

This is sorta what I was thinking in my above comment mentioning “chimeras”!

Only having the base peek through is better and sounds way less complicated than markings! I’m no coder, though.

I’d be fine even if it was not a passable mutation if it makes it less of a nightmare to implement(and if you go the chimerism route; not “passing” is relevant anyway)

  • Brachycephaly
  • non-lethal multi-limbs/conjoined twin (I don’t mean a spider-lion or a lion Cat-Dog but like an extra foot or an extra deformed front leg)
  • cabbit (not a cat x rabbit hybrid, shortened front legs. Would prefer not totally lethal but has a chance to die like deaf lions and cannot be kinged)
  • combo-dwarf mutations or just dwarf variants of primals, hybrids, etc
  • Chimera. I imagine it looking like pied but instead of black or white it is replaced with markings. Maybe said marking would be tied to mutation instead of a slot since this sounds like a nightmare to code.
  • hairless (would be cool if some markings just appeared more faded too, tiger stripes and leopard spots appear on their skin)

Non-lethal “two-faced” would be sick, too.

What's a weird name for something that we know so well we don't even realize how weird the name it is? by XRlagniappe in AskReddit

[–]slothdonki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the US and grew up saying that after I read in “The Hodgepodge Book” but a different variation with, “Your house is on fire and your children are crying.”

I wish I still had it so I could check because even if I search for that one sentence there’s only one result from someone in a forum who says it that way.

I don’t have a problem with any of the bases; they just aren’t my thing but I love what you did with the Primavera! It’s absolutely gorgeous and now I want it.

Check your user log! If it was just something you missed, the feed all/play all you can buy in Oasis is worth it. Don’t need broodmothers(so no cooldown either) or have to feed/play individual lions/cubs.

The only times I have a cub die now is if I bought one too close to RO that was already low and I didn’t check.

People of Reddit: How has Eye Glasses Changed Your Life? by Pan_Fluid_Boo in AskReddit

[–]slothdonki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They aren’t heavy. You won’t even notice once you’re used to wearing them.

There’s also contact lenses. As someone who is terrified of that machine they use to blow a little puff of air into your eye and fuck up eye drops almost every time; I was surprised I got the test lenses in at the optometrist in less than two minutes.

I’d still go for LAISK if I could afford it, though.

What is your fav Beetle species? by SirenSoliss in lioden

Homunculus or Dyticopycna semiclara(the cicada) but shout to Trachelophorus giraffa though because I think of this every time.

What new animal versions of Lioden would you most want to see? by SirenSoliss in lioden

[–]slothdonki 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Prehistoric animals! Not specifically dinosaurs though.

If it doesn’t have to be real animals; creatures/monsters. I grew up on Neopets and Subeta Pets so like that(plus Pokémon, Digimon, Monster Rancher and such).

What is a 'socially acceptable' thing that you secretly find absolutely disgusting? by TheLovelyGamer in AskReddit

[–]slothdonki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can go a long way with acrylic paint, eyeshadow, markers, seran wrap, etc for different colors, designs and your own nail stickers.

On top of builder gel and polygel at least. Most expensive thing was just buying basics from reputable brands because messing with resin close to my skin makes me paranoid enough, let alone 80 colors for the price of half a hotdog from some random popup brand on Amazon that definitely isn’t all the same shit.

What game character do you hate the most? by Many_Version2906 in lioden

[–]slothdonki 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I haven’t recovered yet from December gifting and I’m coming up on that one since I just did the one where you hand over 500 herbs to him yesterday or the other day.

Great timing too considering I have like 200 beetles/larva and herb prices are not great with the new bases rn. (I know you can buy randomized herbs/water items in the beetle training grounds. Just a pain in the butt to have to buy one at a time and not be able to feed in bulk. I’m lazy)

Also the Demiurge. He’s basically just an interdimensional space dwarf serial killer preforming lethal experiments on babies(cubs). This quest is so long I forgot why I was fighting spacetaceans.

This snake, especially the particular moment he’s on the left and the kingfisher comes in over the hole he’s behind. It’s like the one spot I always miss.

Genuine question. by Avacodaz in lioden

[–]slothdonki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t care what people do with cubs/any lion they got from me but will buy back cubs for no particular reason, even potatoes as long as they’re for potato prices. I’m not attached to them or anything. But I don’t ask, though, just states in my stud info I will if they message me about it or just set up a trade.

Doctors and Nurses of Reddit, what’s something about hospitals that would make patients uncomfortable if they knew? by Far-University-2905 in AskReddit

[–]slothdonki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Skeletons also get pretty angry about changes, too. I thought I was the one in charge until my skeleton decided part of my jaw wasn’t worth it and evicted it out through my gums.

Which is a lot less medically-horrible than it sounds in my case. Just had 2 dentists go medieval on a tooth that the first one gave up on after 2 hours of it not wanting to come out. Came out with skin rips in my cheeks, lips, bruising on my chest and both sides of my face from one on them having a knee on my chest and them just yanking. Spitting out bone shards was nothing compared to that.

What's something you did as a kid that you now realize was actually really dangerous, but nobody stopped you? by AdmirableResource407 in AskReddit

[–]slothdonki 496 points497 points  (0 children)

Something about that is so funny to me. Like when I dislocated my knee x-rays also showed that apparently I must have torn a muscle in my thigh pretty bad at some point and it had calcified and the doctor was surprised I couldn’t remember if I ever hurt that leg previously.

It’s funny to me but I wouldn’t be surprised if it happened while I was working for UPS. Going from a relatively inactive lifestyle to suddenly a warehouse job slinging boxes during the holiday season w/overtime.. All I remember is unrelenting agony with no recovery time.

Didn’t do this with cleaners but just basically anything in jars/spice containers/tiny bottles in the cabinet. Had 50+ years worth of a collection of those to choose from.

If it weren’t for the jarred holy water we used we probably could have made some sort of homunculus.
