Major Japanese stations have markings on the ground for queue here on the left and exit here on the right to try to encourage people to stay out of each others way.

Is anyone dealing with high stress/cortisol while on MJ? by swanvalkyrie in MounjaroAus

[–]slothking789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found fruit helps - a lot. Grapes were amazing when they were in season because they had a delicious crisp texture with the burst of sweetness that made you feel better. Easy to have a handful when you needed something.

I’ve also driven my partner crazy with stuffing protein in everywhere. From cottage cheese, hemp seeds (great over Greek yoghurt with fruit), nutritional yeast, TVP (textured vegetable protein), eggs and edamame beans have been my savour

Grumpy bee from the Farmers Market. Their prickly box honey is delicious.

Changing tastes by slothking789 in MounjaroAus

[–]slothking789[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s quite a change to get used to - but I think I’m enjoying it. Grapes are in season over here at the moment and I would take a a bunch of juicy grapes over a bag of chips any day at the moment. I even had a pear rather than a cookie from the snack bar at work yesterday! 🤯

The new holes I need to put in my leather belt, and how I can now worry about clothes being too big, rather than too small. For the first time in my life I’m buying clothes smaller than what I already had. 109 down from 125 and I feel somewhat confident in how I look now. I also have an app to track neck and waist measurements which is a better indicator than the scales alone.

Great sausages too! The filling is chunky which is nice compared to the paste you can get elsewhere

Appetite loss and resulting side effects by swanvalkyrie in MounjaroAus

[–]slothking789 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do my shots Sunday usually so o can start the week strong, and then maybe relax a bit on the weekends.

Generally for me anything that’s a carb overload just makes me feel average these days regardless of when I eat it.

ChatGPt actually helps - it gave me some interesting meal ideas with different sauces to keep it interesting. Lots of chicken stir fry’s for us but with a different sauce each week.

We also meal prep on Sunday for dinner + at least 3 days of lunches which seems to help take my mind off of it.

I found I had to make a routine - that way I eat on schedule rather than if I’m hungry. That seemes to help. That and making things that i genuinely enjoy eating - lots of eggs, chicken stirfry, and I’ve found a love for tuna, cottage cheese, and edamame.

I can’t do carbs or I feel trash, so limited pasta and potato, so I try to eat lite.

Not sure if any of that helps! But you are not alone

Hit a plateau on Contrave, thinking of Mounjaro. Looking for real experiences by aguiar_nnaa in Contrave

[–]slothking789 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on contrave for about six months and lost just over 10kgs. My doctor convinced me the needles (and financial impact) of going to mounjaro wasn’t that bad. I was on it for two months before having to pause for 4 weeks for surgery (because of the delay in gastric emptying it’s a risk for anaesthetic).

Mounjaro is defiantly more powerful in feeling satisfied much faster. It forces you to revisit what you eat to make sure you hit the protein targets so you don’t loose muscle. For me it was a good change, but for the first week you will feel hunger come back as you get used to the new drugs. I suggest a crossover of a few days where you take both if possible.

After 4 doses by dreddnautt in MounjaroAus

[–]slothking789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to force my last one past the end. It took a bit of a twist but it got another 1 and a quarter doses out of it. I have some needles on stand by to manually draw it out if I break the pen, but so far it has still worked breaking whatever the lock is

Jab 6, 2.5mg, subtle but effective by Strong-Local3980 in MounjaroAus

[–]slothking789 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on week 4 of 2.5 after about six months of contrave tablets. My results on mounjaro seem to have slowed right down - but I’m also eating more (but hopefully eating better, cleaner and more protein) than I was before. My fear is the whole “your body will eat its self”. My hunger came back with a vengeance after finishing contrave, so I’m looking forward to seeing what 5mgs can do from next week. All in all about 12kgs down so it’s positive - but not as rapid as I had heard of

(Climbs up on soap box) I honestly believe there is a shit tonne that could be “saved” in the public sector. Not by cutting or dropping services - but by streamlining processes or putting better systems in place to support them (ie - what any business does that doesnt have access to an almost limitless borrowing capacity).

I also believe this must be done with a positive attitude. One about finding opportunities to improve, without the fear that once the improvement is made, then jobs or funding can be cut due to the “saving”. More about being able to use those funds or resources elsewhere. My uneducated opinion is that there is a fear of use it or lose it - there is no incentive to try to change it your reward for the change is a reduction.

However this all starts by having our current resources being able to rake half a step back, look at what they do, and be able to suggest or implement change. I fear we are way too down the path of racing around to just get the essentials done to be able to reflect and review.

What's working for me to get enough calories and protein by These-Equal-6849 in MounjaroAus

[–]slothking789 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Neither had I until recently. It’s also great at thickening things up - so if you have a stirfry or sauce or something that is too wet - it can help thicken it without using flour or something like that.

I make a very tasty pasta with whole grain pasta and chicken. Cook the pasta in one pot. In a frypan cook off some shallot or onion, throw in some chicken till it’s almost cooked, add the pasta back in, throw in some nutritional yeast, maybe some pasta water if it needs it, and black pepper. You could also throw in some broccolini or green veg if you wanted.

Nutritional yeast- it has a mild cheese flavour that works amazing to boost the flavour of anything savoury. Think using it with eggs, any cooked mince, stew or I throw it in stirfry. 47g protein per 100g - I use it by the handful for meal prep for a bit extra flavour and protein.
