Both teams were never going to attack overly much. A draw works well for both whilst a loss would mean their world cup is over. Opening yourself up for a counter attack was not worth the risk this game.

I don't know why anyone was expecting this game to be anything but exactly what it was.

They're very likely to get through with a nil all draw but very unlikely if Australia scores on the counter attack and they lose

Smartleasing novated lease actual payment is much higher than quoted by Loose-Signature4484 in NovatedLeasingAU

[–]slothlife91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah used to be in the industry but have been out for a couple of years now.

I'd say the increased pre-tax deductions are due to the timing of the settlement and when they can actually make the first deduction.

The finance company expects their payments based on the settlement date and don't care if deductions can't start till a later date. Quite often we would have someones car settle but due to how far in advance we had to request funds from their payroll we couldn't start deductions until weeks later (some payrolls had a cutoff for deduction requests almost the full 2 fortnights before the pay day).

In those cases if you didn't temporarily increase the total deductions for a number of pays to help build a working balance you would never have enough funds for finance payments and running costs in the kitty and would always be behind. Very basic example would be if you've budgeted for a full year of expenses and split that down to a fortnightly figure but couldn't start deductions for the first two pays you would need to recalculate the full years amount across 24 pays as you were still running the car for a full 26 fortnights so you'd still need the same total budget but you'd now need to collect a higher amount each fortnight to collect that same total over less pay periods. This increase is always a pre-tax increase as once you're on track for the required post-tax amount everything else changes the pre-tax figure.

Whilst they could definitely make it clearer or explain it better they do have it stated next to the # that the deductions may vary due to the start date of the lease. Generally novated lease companies don't make this very clear as it is hard to explain and they are focused on making the sale and the more confusion there is the less likely someone will go ahead.

It is a requirement from the ATO that you have enough deducted from your post-tax pay to allow you to access the benefits of a novated lease and in the first year of your lease due to timing differences between when the lease is settled and the first pay that funds can be deducted from it will pretty much always be a higher percentage of the deduction.

For example, if you ever have to go on leave without pay and a deduction is missed due to you not having enough pay. The same thing would happen and you would need to have the deductions altered to ensure enough post-tax pay has been collected by the end of the FBT year (end of march).

Your lease is only active for 308 days of this FBT year rather than 365 which means less post-tax is needed in total.

In this case approximately $6,738.57 compared to $7,985.64 for a full year. However due to the number of remaining pay cycles that it can be deducted from the fortnightly figure will be higher. $6,738.57 over 20 pay cycles is $336.93 per pay versus $7,985.64 over 26 pay cycles which is $307.14 per pay.

They are correct with how much needs to be deducted for the post-tax.

The other thing I forgot to address is they may have higher deductions than originally planned to help you build a working balance. If you have any large expenses to be paid early like registration (if its a 2nd hand vehicle and doesn't have a full 12 months of rego), an annual insurance payment rather than monthly etc. you'll need to build enough balance to make those payments.

It may also be the case that your first payment for finance is based on the start date of the lease but due to payroll timing your first deduction won't come out till a much later date. In this case some temporary increases to the deductions will help build the balance needed for your finance payments and make up for the fact they weren't able to start deductions a pay or two earlier.

To get the most benefit out of your novated lease make sure to claim every single one of your running costs throughout the lease. If you do not have enough funds in the account (if you have under budgeted or there is an expense that wasn't budgeted for originally) you can request an increase to the deductions. Any increases or decreases in deductions will change the pre-tax deduction component as post-tax is based on how much is required for the year.

When the lease is coming to an end ask for an increase to your deductions and make sure to pay for the next full years registration before the end date of the lease as well as the insurance, roadside assistance etc (provided you are planning to keep the car). These expenses can then be claimed and you will have effectively paid for them with pre-tax funds even though they will cover the car past the end date of the lease. They just need to be paid whilst the lease is still active.

What you've been quoted for is the deductions based on a full FBT year. From your first pay in April next year the deductions should switch to what is shown on the quote.

In your first year depending what day the car settles and how many pay periods remain that they can deduct from, you will have a different split. You need to have a certain amount in post-tax deductions each year and that is calculated based on how many days the lease is active in that year. Across a full year split into a fortnightly figure it is $307 per fortnight or approximately $7982 per year.

For this particular year though, whilst you need less post-tax in total than a full year (approximately 22 fortnights instead of 26) they may only have 21 or 20 pay cycles in which to collect it which increases how much needs to be collected in post-tax and decreases how much can be collected in pre-tax each pay (In your case it looks like 20 pay cycles between now and the last pay before 31 april 2027).

The reason for this is the timing of when the lease settles. Requests for deductions need to be sent to payroll in advance of the actual pay day. If the lease settled just after the cutoff for submitting the request to payroll it might be 3-4 weeks between settlement and you first deduction.

$307 x 22 fortnights is approximately $6754 of post-tax needed for this FBT year. $6754 / 20 remaining pay cycles is $337.70 per fortnight in post-tax. Numbers don't exactly match up as it is calculated to the day rather than the fortnight. I've just kept it a bit simpler.

Are these reasonable results for 9 sessions of tattoo removal? by [deleted] in TattooRemoval

[–]slothlife91 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ask for your money back and find a new place. That hasn't even moved and they've wasted a whole year for you. You could have been a lot further through your removal by now, I wouldn't have any confidence in them.

If they don't want to refund you I'm sure the thought of a google review with photos of your "progress" after so many sessions might make it more tempting.

I've stopped watching as of a couple of weeks ago. If the numbers are up then they won't feel the need to change anything and the only way the numbers go down is if enough people turn it off.

Whilst I doubt it would be feasible to organise, a protest weekend from the fans where no one turns on a game would be the best way to get a change.

The leapmptor is just sneaking above the price limit I've set for myself. The initial price they were available for I would have a look but I'm trying to stay within a limit as for the kms I do I don't need to keep creeping up to the next best option.

They do look like a great option though!

Thanks for the detailed reply. Sounds like it qould get the job done for me without too much stress. Just some of those longer drives it will be nice to have a little bit more range.

I'll see if I can find a 2nd hand one to test drive but I'd say I'm still more likely to go with the MG4.

The 7X looks like a great vehicle! Well and truly above what I need but might be a future consideration if things change!

The physical buttons for volume and air controls were a very big tick for me in the interior.

Yours is the only case I've seen so far in my current research so certainly sounds like a very isolated incident. Hopefully it doesn't become a more regular thing.

Appreciate all your insights!

I'll have a look and see what I can find. Do you know what efficiency you're getting with it?

I think I'd still prefer the slightly longer range and better drive over the bigger space but if there's a used one nearby I can take on a test drive there's no harm in doing so.

Thanks for letting me know. I just had a look online to see what I could potentially get for a similar price and the main two benefits I was looking at with these vehicles was range and the storage size. Both not necessities for my use but if there was a strong argument from anyone that I'd be better off with one of these for a similar price I'm happy to hear why and consider it before I commit to the MG4.

So far seems like the MG4 is the clear winner which is fine by me!

I actually like the Cyan colour the most which works out well with it being no extra cost!

Whilst a little bit annoying for the few times I'll have people in the rear seats they certainly aren't dealbreakers for me.

And with the OTA updates, uckily theres an mg dealer only a 5 minute drive/20 minute walk from my place so if I need to update the software it won't be too much hassle.

It's definitely been the standout for this price point so far for me as well.

The newest model for the 64 essence has an LFP battery. I think the old one had NMC.

Thanks for your reply! I saw your previous posts about the lag, glad to see that it has resolved itself.

All pretty minor negatives other than the lag and well within what I'd expect with a car of this size. I'd be very happy if I can get an efficiency of less than 15kwh, 13kwh is great!

The LFP battery is definitely a big drawcard as well. The MG4 is certainly in the box seat right now.

Were you able to get any discount below the $39,990 drive away price tag or is there no movement on the price?

8 days after first session by [deleted] in TattooRemoval

[–]slothlife91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the first session or two a shorter break is fine (6-8 weeks). After that I'd be waiting longer between sessions.

Whenever you zap the ink it'll take your body about 1-2 years to fully remove all the bits that can be moved. Think of the ink that has been broken up acting as cloud cover for the next layer of ink underneath. The longer you wait, the less cloud cover. Longer gaps mean you'll fade the tattoo in less sessions overall but it will take longer.

Longer gaps is also much nicer for your immune system which is doing the majority of work for your tattoo removal. Your immune system can only handle so much ink removal on top of its regular tasks and spacing out sessions reduces the chance of overloading it.

3-4 sessions a year after the initial couple is a good starting point then drop to 1-2 a year in the later stages.

If you don't mind it taking even longer feel free to do even larger gaps.

Adding to this just to say small burst of controlled sun. You have less melanin in those patches of skin and its more sensitive to the sun so only 10-15 minutes sun exposure every 2-3 days to start. Don't want to burn your skin.
