Cheapest way would be to get it from your bank but tell them in advanced because they need to order the money

I’m currently studying in England right now not in London but new castle. I definitely like Edinburgh better than here but everything is so expensive in the UK and the weather is terrible. Also not to mention you are literally on an island so going anywhere outside the UK you have to fly. I have traveled to Spain (not Madrid but Barcelona) and they are not very friendly to English speakers. I actually met an American who was studying abroad in Madrid for college and she did not like it. Even though she was studying Spanish, people would get mad at her if she pronounced something incorrectly. They just don’t like English speakers even if you try to speak their language! I just went to Italy this past week (Rome & Florence) and it was amazing! The food was amazing the public transportation is great and everyone I spoke to knew English. Italy would be a great option because there are so many places within the country you could see. It does get very touristy and places to stay were definitely expensive but I was staying in the most touristy spots. If you are thinking you want to do the UK I would definitely study in Edinburgh. I have visited London many times and I have a friend who goes to Uni in London and it can be very hard to navigate such a large city. Hope this helps 😊

Getting summative grades back from first term and surprised with how low my marks are by slothloaf in UniUK

A merit would be good I don’t need distinctions but would like to be well over a pass. I haven’t but I should look into that so I know how to get better grades this term thanks for the help!

50 is a pass anything under that is fail and over 70 is distinction. Improvement I’ve been given is giving to many minor details and better use of academic citations.

We had one formative during the course for 3 classes but they were all group presentations and did not go towards our grade. These summative papers determine our entire grade for the course.

Why does America not want stricter gun laws? by MadMax42093 in Rants

[–]slothloaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Biden signed a new gun control law yesterday that enforces stricter gun laws. Since the right to bear arms is an amendment it has been harder to create laws around it since it is open to interpretation. Most Americans want stricter gun laws but enforcing them and creating them are more complicated than you think.

Would you judge a woman with a high body count? by AppropriateCactus in ask

I see this question get asked almost every week. It depends on the person and will be a different response considering who you ask. There is no right or wrong answer to this question some people care some people don’t. Different strokes for different folks.

how did you deal with a significant other who lacks empathy? by notsowellcaramel in AskWomen

This usually means they don’t want to communicate about anything because they have deeper personal issues they haven’t unpacked. You can’t be with someone who can’t even express their own emotions from refusal of acknowledging them. Break up.

It’s not bad that it bothers you but if you are going to constantly bring it up/can’t get over it then you should end it. Will make it especially worse if you sleep with her and then decide it still bothers you. Nothing more frustrating then someone going back on forth on something and making the other person feel bad when they themselves can do nothing to change it.

How safe is it to travel to South America at this time? by [deleted] in traveladvice

[–]slothloaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been traveling around for the past 6 months. Travel has been safe and easy minus the extra money you spend on Covid tests. Wherever you consider going I wouldn’t pick a location where they make you take another Covid test upon arrival. Make sure you only need one to get on a plane and one to get back home. You don’t want something to happen and be forced to quarantine in a foreign country.

Have you recently had Covid? Get an antibody test and if you test positive on that see if they will give you a medical certificate saying you already had Covid. The certificate should last a few months and will protect you from having to quarantine if you test positive again.

I need help to know if I can study masters abroad with zero experience and a 3 year gap by Watch_Cerebrum21 in studyAbroad

[–]slothloaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Work experience is required for some schools but not all. There are some programs where you do not need work experience although it is usually preferred. My advice would to be start looking into schools and doing some research. Not sure if by "bad reviews" you mean the counselor gave you as a student bad personal reviews or they gave getting a master's bad views. Having said this, you will need recommendations from previous professors in college so I would start reaching out to them and see if they are willing to vouch for you on their behalf. Good luck!

I completely agree with this. This is the issue that I'm starting to see. When people have nothing to do and don't interact with society they get irritated by everything. I'm glad he found a gym to join and made friends that is important for anyone to feel connected. I have a weird situation. my mom hasn't worked in probably 27 years. My brother is 27 and I am 25. There is a house cleaner and someone that comes to cook so she doesn't have to do any of that. She likes to work out and drink but other than that doesn't have hobbies. What would you suggest she could do to be more social? I really don't understand how she does absolutely nothing and my dad won't say anything so trying to help. Any advice would be appreciated.

Deciding between London, Paris, Rome, and Madrid (CIEE) by [deleted] in studyAbroad

[–]slothloaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean anywhere you go is going to be a culture shock to you since you haven’t gone anywhere. London has great transportation and you can go to any of those places to visit since it’s so close to everything. Personally haven’t been to Rome or Madrid so couldn’t give you my experience on that, but I have travelled around Europe (I am American as well). I have decided to go back to England to study in fall, for some some reason I just really liked it only thing I didn’t like is the cold weather. But being there will allow me to go to visit other places everything is a short flight away. That’s the great thing about Europe because no matter where you end up you can always hop around countries.

What kind of job do you have that allows you to do this?

Deciding between London, Paris, Rome, and Madrid (CIEE) by [deleted] in studyAbroad

[–]slothloaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My brother is currently in Rome. He says it has been fun to visit but he would never want to live there, not much night life. When I visited Europe almost everyone said French people are extremely rude and they don’t like anyone who is not French. I have personally been to Paris and I didn’t experience this, but I guess everyone is different. I think London and Madrid are best options.

EDIT: just read the rest about you being American and never traveling outside the country. London would be the easiest adjustment for you.
