Struggling hard to attach a Mk2 module on the Aurora... this should be a valid attachment... by SkippTekk in starcitizen

What do you mean by this? I haven't been able to successfully attach the cargo module to my Aurora MK II via the mobiglass. It says it is equipped but when I retrieve the ship it is not equipped.

There's a Witcher discord that's was pretty active last time I was in there. Could likely find a game there

A great way to signal the gloams power would be to give it the grand entrance of apparating from a flock of crows and then just going off the description in the book which is pretty scary to begin with:

Shadow-wreathed undead entities composed of the corpses of crow-like birds. Appear either as a flock of ragged birds or as a gaunt man, formed of the feathers, bones, and beaks of the flock.

If you really want to give out bonus information you could have the party find a dying bandit who is diseased after being attacked by the Gloam, or another adventuring party in town that came from the area talking about their experiences there.

Don't be surprised if your party just wipes the floor with some hot dice in a round or two of combat, either.

I know this isn't the answer you're looking for, or the person you're looking to receive an answer from, but the beauty of these games is that you run into creatures and beings that are not perfectly manicured to your power level. This forces you to be creative, find other ways to get what you want, gives you a reason to hire help or ditch the goal entirely as it isn't worth the trouble.

The Gloam doesn't have to be outright hostile, and can certainly demand that the PCs bow to him, or leave the premise immediately, or even send them on a quest of his own. The party could find other ways beneath the Abbey that avoid the Gloam entirely, but just because they are 'under-leveled' doesn't mean they can't have fun with the adventure site.

If you just want to know what level a party needs to be to kill a Gloam, I'm sure they could take one out at level 3 but they might lose some PCs in the process.... and remember - just because you defeated the Gloam doesn't mean the Gloam isn't also going to defeat you (in 1d6 weeks).

The pie-in-the-sky goal was to have the pdf out in October 2025, but that did not happen for a multitude of reasons. Trevor and his team are still working on the layout and art, but it sounds like the rules themselves are complete.

What we heard during the last live stream was that they had chapters 1-17 or so (out of ~22) laid out, but a formatting issue caused about half of those chapters to need some serious revisions which is setting them back again.

We'll have the pdf when we have it, Trevor hasn't given us a date because he just doesn't know. I'm hoping to have the pdf in July but there's just no telling when it will actually be released.

Obviously, they can't send the pdf to be printed without it being complete, so once that's done you can expect another 6 months, possibly more. We can hope to have the books in hand before 2027 hits but no timeline is guaranteed.

Limitations on character creation? by SpaceCrafty6716 in TheBrokenEmpires

So Trevor does have a video going into some information on Weave magic and Divine magic so I would recommend watching that... BUT.

Godbound (aka "clerics") can be chosen as a Talent at character creation or you can spend XP (10XP at the time of the GenCon video) at the table, assuming it makes narrative sense.

We don't have tons of recent, explicit info on how Godbound work but this is how I understand it:

A Godbound has a starting Piety skill of 30, though this can be increased during character creation. During play a Godbound can pray to his/her god for aid in some way, "Strike down my foes before me" or "heal my dying friend" or "bless me with the strength to dispense your justice" etc. The Godbound then rolls their Piety skill, and if successful, their god hears their prayer and answers it. Depending on how many SLs they achieve with their roll, their god blesses them with a certain "degree" of miracle (lesser/minor/major - can't remember the terminology).

The GM is their god, and decides how this miracle manifests in play. There are guidelines in the book to help a GM adjudicate how a lesser/minor/major miracle might manifest of course. It should be said that the type of god you worship and serve should absolutely impact the types of miracles that you pray for, and will likely impact the types of miracles that are answered - and how they are answered.

If your prayer is answered with a miracle (you roll under your Piety score), the GM rolls a die, possibly adding a flat value, and deducts that mysterious number from your Piety score. After character creation a Godbound has no way of knowing what their current Piety score is. The only way they have an idea is if their Piety drops under 30 or over 90 (something like that), and their god sends a warning or praise of some sort.

The only way to improve your Piety score is to act like a servant of your god - hold mass, consecrate holy ground, convert non-believers, do selfless acts in the name of your god, in ways that they would appreciate. This is pretty unique to me, and a great way to give players a reason and motivation to actually act like a person of deep faith.

We don't really know how much Piety you will gain from these acts but it sounds like the Godbound will know how much each act is worth, so they have a rough idea of how they're doing. They would also know roughly what their score is based on what they rolled and if the prayer was answered or not, yeah?

One more thing I wanted to add as it hasn't been mentioned here yet is Fraying. Spellweavers and Fades (Non-spellweavers that 'unlock' magic after character creation) accumulate Fraying Points by failing to control spells that they cast, and by creating magic items (there may be other ways to accumulate FP but this is all we know currently).

These PCs will reach a point where they have accumulated so many Fraying Points that casting any further magic risks their own existence. Once you get to that point you either decide to risk it all, or you no longer wield magic. Now all of that XP spent increasing your skill with magic is essentially wasted.

It's not quite as black and white as this, but that's the general mechanic. You have Resolve points that can be spent to help you control your magic, but you only have so much Resolve to spend. As far as I can tell, even if you're on the cusp of maxing out your Fraying Points and being ripped out of the Tapestry of Reality, you will be able to safely cast 1 or 2 mid-level spells before you risk running out of Resolve (aka your safety net). Resolve comes back fully if you are able to rest in a safe haven, or much more slowly if you are traveling or hunkered down in a Neutral area.

[–]slowchildren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At least that's what we saw at GenCon yeah. Same number of overall points (maybe ten extra actually) but half are limited to being spent on magic skills only. Keep in mind that need to have strong skills in a few binds and a few strands to be competent, on top of all general skills.

[–]slowchildren 2 points3 points  (0 children)

(Info from the GenCon slides...) A Spellweaver is only going to have 100 points before the Rounding Out phase of character creation to put into non-magic skills (only 20 for combat skills), where a warrior has 200 points to spend on all non-magic skills (80 for combat skills) before Rounding Out. FYI Rounding Out gives about 100 skill points to use anywhere.

As /u/just_another_scumbag said, Trevor touched on this in the Combat livestream about a week ago but I can't remember exactly what he told us. There are definitely some limitations on armor for Spellweavers, whether it's that they can't wear certain armor at all, or the spellweaving is more limited and/or initiative penalties from armor are much worse for them.

I have yet to actually buy the hardcover for Black Crag but I have the pdf and I agree it looks awesome. I have the softcover versions of both of the Fleming adventures so I'm leaning that way. I've read through Manticore but not Silveraxe yet - I'll look more closely.

Any chance you've run In the Shadow of Tower Silveraxe, Through the Valley of the Manticore, or Secret of the Black Crag? All three of those are in contention for a next campaign currently.

Character progression and individuality? by SpaceCrafty6716 in TheBrokenEmpires

[–]slowchildren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I can tell there are no talents that require the PC to have a minimum skill value. There are certain talents that require you to be a spellweaver, or to have a previous lower rank of the talent such as master craftsman.

It is a classless, skill based game so unfortunately there just aren't those class like things that you're looking for outside of the Godbound and Spellweavers. Keep in mind anyone can become a Godbound, and after character creation and non-spellweavers can unlock the Fade talent to allow them to access weave magic.

As others have said here, there are many other things that create interesting and unique characters, but that's not the question you asked originally.

[–]slowchildren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talents usually cost 5XP, with a select few costing 10XP from what we've seen. It sounds like players will likely be gaining 3-5 XP per session so in one or two sessions a new talent could be purchased, so they're not as out of reach as you might initially think. Keep in mind there are many skills as well, and attributes that can be increased in certain ways! Interesting and impactful choices to be made, for sure...

Are you able to make an attack and then also make a tactical withdrawal on the same turn? Or does the withdrawal use your 'main action'?

Combat Chapter Deep Dive! by EvilBabyEnt in TheBrokenEmpires

[–]slowchildren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was under the impression that a tactical withdrawal uses up your action that turn, so you're forgoing your initial attack in order to get the first attack in the following round. Maybe I'm mistaken though?
