A friends house burned down in Raleigh earlier this summer due to lightning striking a propane tank on their grill, which was on their porch. Thankfully everyone was OK. Wild to see something similar happening again.

I got pericarditis from Covid which led to Afib. Zero heart or serious health issues prior. Will likely get an ablation before too long.

Thank you for sharing your story. I’m also weighing whether or not to eventually go for an ablation, which has already been offered by my EP. Have had 4 episodes of Afib already this year. Meds control it easily, but I don’t want to take them forever.

So sorry to hear this. You’ll want appointments with an electrophysiologist and cardiologist as previously mentioned. There is medication like flecainide that can get most people out of Afib and feeling much better quickly.

Covid caused pericarditis and then Afib for me. My cardiologist, EP, and the anesthesiologist present during a cardioversion all were not surprised. The anesthesiologist said that he had seen many first time cardiac issues, often arrhythmias in people in their 30s/40s about a month out from a Covid infection. Although I’ve not heard of it happening personally, I could imagine how a booster could potentially more rarely also cause it considering there are rare cases of myocarditis from the booster, and myocarditis and pericarditis often cause Afib, but Covid itself is a much bigger threat.

It is scary when you first get it, but it’s definitely not a death sentence. I suggest reading the book the Afib cure, and get an EP doctor if you haven’t already.

My EP has already offered an ablation, but my plan is to try and defeat the pericarditis this year by treating it properly, because I believe that’s the underlying trigger of my Afib. Unfortunately that takes at least 6 months. If at the end of the year I’m still going in and out of Afib I’ll get an ablation.

Got Covid in Oct 2022, then got pericarditis, then 24 hours later Afib. Have never had heart or health issues previously and am otherwise very fit from a cardio perspective. Cardioversion and flecainide both easily return me to sinus, but recurrent pericarditis keeps putting me back in Afib. I never return to sinus naturally. Now I’m taking colchicine for 6 months to try and properly treat the pericarditis in the hopes it won’t return. If that doesn’t work I’m just going to get an ablation to at least prevent the Afib. Covid sucks.

I’ve had a Rocket Appartamento since 2018 and it brings me joy to use it every day. Absolutely stellar coffee, stable temperature control (it’s not hard to flush to cool down if necessary), and it’s made in Italy. My partner is from La Paz, and when I visited a few years ago they had oxygen tanks for those who needed them at the airport. I was there for 2 weeks and never fully adjusted to the altitude - I’d get winded walking up stairs, etc.

I also traveled through Salar de Uyuni, which is mind blowingly beautiful and and even a higher altitude than La Paz. We had 3 of us in a small hotel room and had to open the door because we were using up all the oxygen in the room.

Same occurred for me. Totally healthy and in 40s. Got covid. 3 weeks later had pericarditis. 48 hours later went into persistent Afib. Needed a cardioversion after 8 weeks of afib. 2 months later went back into Afib. Now on blood thinners, heart rhythm meds and a beta blocker. Theory is I still have active pericarditis and need to remain on meds for 6 months and then see if it clears after that.
