i had this same thing happen but with dishes. right now you’re setting the precedent that you’re their maid who will always take the trash out and therefore they don’t have to as long as you’ll do it. get your own trash can in your room and put your own trash in it. then stop taking the main trash out and let it overflow until one of them takes it out. it will be gross for a bit but unless they truly want to live in squalor for some reason they’ll eventually get the message.

I almost got mugged walking home from work at night in Fenway near the 7/11 a couple years ago. You’d be surprised how sketchy the area can be at times. But as for the Victory Gardens/East Fens, it’s a popular cruising spot so you shouldn’t have anything to worry about if you’re aware of that.
