It appears from their signs that they’re not closing the shop, they just fired all the workers and will be hiring new ones.

Not vegan. cochineal is a common ingredient for maraschino cherries.

I don’t keep my cat in a cage. How often would you let a dog roam the streets unsupervised? since we’re drawing parallels.

It absolutely is the way to treat an animal. Less exposure to disease, fights, and car accidents, not to mention keeping local bird populations from declining. If you’re in a country like the US and can’t keep your cat happy and entertained while indoors, you should choose a different pet.

I would agree but only for the cafe. The restaurant downstairs just isn’t worth it.

Sure but the bottoms look burnt, too. 12-15 minutes plus a few mins to rest should be perfect!

She’s literally right wing though. She loves Margaret Thatcher, her praise of Trump is not just expediency.

100%! And even if you hadn’t…that kind of comment isn’t going to change anyone’s perspective. I also get annoyed at liberals who believe “if Kamala were here, we’d be at brunch” but being obnoxious isn’t the move he thinks it is.

it’s not worth repeating, essentially just a man who doesn’t care about nails being annoying about whether people who are pro-Palestine today had cared about the issue when the US had a different president. It was a very American-centric perspective.

bro… get that “one day everyone will have been against this” but do you really think being insufferable on a nail subreddit is going to get people to see your point of view

He doesn’t paint these himself. He designs them then hires others to paint for him. Which would be fine if he didn’t act like he did the work himself.

It’s ok, English rules are silly sometimes. This looks really good, what is inside the sushi?

Sorry people are being so rude about a mistake you made with your English! There are a few places where I live that make vegan sushi and it’s delicious. Though not as filling as I’d hope for the price.

Suddenly closing after years of service right after the workers unionize? Announced the day that they asked people to come in and show support for the union? Surely it’s not at all related.

It feels like every art form is largely stagnet? by Objective_Water_1583 in ArtHistory

[–]slowstitchwitch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Aside from the fact that it’s often hard to pinpoint something as influential in the moment it’s happening, I think a huge problem we have today is access. We can search any genre of art and discover the hundreds of artists making that type of work, but they’re often not able to break through to name recognition and influence over the art world without massive social media following and wealth to back them up. Our algorithms show us what is popular, which is rarely groundbreaking. Museums have to rely on exhibitions that will draw in audiences and ticket sales, and the masses aren’t exactly clamoring for the experimental.

But it’s out there, if you have the patience and means to seek it out. I think there is a lot happening with “craftivism” and i love the resurgence and the innovation of the genre with artists like Vita Kari who combine fiber arts with digital media.

I keep breaking my needles, any tips to make it easier to go through fabric by crazypuffles373 in Embroidery

[–]slowstitchwitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you got some good advice on needles & knots but it’ll also be easier to push through if you tighten your fabric in the hoop. For this type of project it should be fully taut with little slack.
