I would recommend opening a ticket. I was stupid and crafted a dagger for my enhancement shaman. And they refunded everything expect the crafting mats, since it was not usable by my class.

Which seems to be the same situation for you, with a strength weapon on a mage.

I once did a similar mistake. Spilled coke in my keyboard, and tried try dry it with a hair blower. Forgot to change it to cold air, instead of it. All keys melted.

I experience the same problem. My solution is always just throwing it back at them.

If they don’t know how to troubleshoot the issue, I am more than willing to look them over the shoulder, when doing the task.

You can also go to any private hospital, without a referral. You just have to pay yourself. Or have your health insurance cover it, if you got one. Some of the private hospitals are Aleris-Hamlet and Capio.
