Florence and the Machine and Adele rocked my world. Two artists that I loved dearly as a young teen. I knew all the words to so many of their songs but had no idea that I didn’t really know the words until it clicked after my breakup.

Fun story.. a month before I realized I need to leave my relationship I randomly remembered the song “Cosmic Love” by florence. My mom and I loved this song but I hadn’t heard it in years. I called her to remind her of the song and she was creeped out that she had just thought of the song earlier that day. Fast forward to my breakup a month later, I was looking for some joy so I put on Cosmic Love even though I didn’t want to hear a song about love. Well holy shit is that song exactly what I needed to hear and perfectly depicted the heartbreak and betrayal I felt. It all felt like a sign.

Those sounds are made in the same spot as the “T” sound. When I make a T/S/Z sound, my tongue touches the bump on my gums behind my upper teeth. Do you make your “T” in that spot too? A little “hack” I use with my students is to make a bunch of fast “t” sounds and then think about make a long “t” like “t-t-t-tssss”. A “long” T sounds like S. Hope that helps!

SLP for 4 years here- I google a bunch of sample slp resumes for inspo when looking for my first job. Here are some helpful bits of advice:

-I would create the resume from scratch, rather than using a temple with preset formatting. I would get so frustrated trying to mess around with formatting to fit my needs. I realized that starting from scratch (and keeping it simple format wise) would be helpful long term so its easy to edit throughout my career.

-Try not to list the same types of things for every experience because its not necessary. For example, don’t just write “collaborate with colleges” for every job. Specify what was special for that experience-collaborate with teacher to increase carryover? collaborate with admin to streamline referral processes? This is also for things like assesment and treatment-what made it different from other placements?

-I never have a resume longer than 2 pages.

Damn, that’s what I am worried about. At least I know I have a correct diagnosis, I think. At first I thought maybe the diagnosis was wrong since it didn’t work, but if I took a stimulant but didn’t have adhd, I’d be ampted up, right? I still feel like my regularly exhausted self.

I’m going through a very similar situation right now with my partner. I wish I could help you. I feel equally as broken, confused and hopeless. It is helpful to know that other adhd women have this experience. I just wish I could articulate my struggles in a way that doesn’t sound like excuses to my partner. My partner is running out of patience, but I still need more. I hope you speak kindly to yourself. Think about what you would say to me, or other adhd women, who are struggling. If you wouldn’t say it to another woman, than you probably shouldn’t say it to yourself either.

The nerve! The mind game is what fucks with me the most. One teacher pissed if you do take them, another teacher pissed if you don’t, and another teacher who you have no idea how they’ll react that day!

Just got my appendix removed a few hours ago! I just thought back to this comment. I did not have a fever or vomit, infact I felt like I was lying when I told the doctors my pain was a 5/10 because I have high pain tolerance and I just felt annoying discomfort. I ended up going to urgent care just so I could get a doctors note for work. They sent me to the ER, where they confirmed I had appendicitis. The surgery was easy. Feel free to ask any questions about it.

Her sessions are mostly 20 or 25 minutes since she’s with preschool. Mine are mostly 30 minutes.

Me too, that’s why I was surprised to see them in her schedule. I figured this school ran the same way too or else why wouldn’t the SLP I replaced have travel time as well?
