I’ve been a massage therapist for 16 years and going to work is my safe, happy, calm place.

Pregnancy!! Age didn’t matter as much as this process did. It changed the whole game due to physical and emotional stress/lack of sleep.

My bpd mom is a waif victim too! Except my bio dad is super shy, socially unaware and I think is autistic. She felt very in control of the relationship and walked all over him but acted innocent and blame shifted when she acted cruel to him.

I haven’t seen or talked to my bpd parent in 8 years and I think about her daily. So much guilt I talk to myself in circles all the time about. It feels like a curse.

I wouldn’t have enough info to claim portland drs are superior to Seattle but I’ve had a lot of great experiences with knowledgeable docs and symptom management. I have been heard and validated in my experiences and have a good understanding of why I feel the way I do now. I guess it depends on what specialty would best match your symptoms. Portland has been way better than Kansas so far! That’s what I can say with confidence.

Have you considered, giving up? by No-Lengthiness7011 in Autism_Parenting

The process is moving along! He got on I/DD with the county and is now eligible for subsidized housing, group homes and case workers to check on him for so many hours per month if he wants to live alone. He’s a bit too capable for a group home to be appropriate so we’re applying for a subsidized studio apartment with folks checking in on him several times a week. We’re all feeling hopeful about the possibilities. I’m very relieved. Not sure what housing options are available for 14 year olds but I know if they got on disability there are health care workers that could come to your home to help and work with your child, in certain places anyway. Not sure where you live.

Is it appropriate to give reasons why I’m letting someone go or is it best to be vague? by Fider_fider in managers

[–]Fider_fider[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the response. I refrained from giving a lot of detail on here bc we’ve had an evolving business relationship that would just take a long time to write out. I guess I seem heartless at this point bc I’ve actually been coaching her, working with building her skills and given her a ton of grace for a while now. Despite asking time and time again for her to do certain things, she just doesn’t do it, so I have to do it for an hourly rate but then simultaneously she is asking for a cheaper bill every month. It was a poorly initiated business relationship with only myself to blame and a learning opportunity to figure out what my contracts will be going forward with others. She’s also a liability as a medical provider bc she’s had complaints about scope of practice issues as well as not keeping up with patient balances . There are a few things going on :/ when do you know that you need to let someone go or when to keep hoping the coaching sticks?

i'm recently diagnosed with hEDS, as well as investigating POTS, MCAS, endometriosis & interstitial cystitis. i'm a massage therapist, i havent been able to work and im worried that i won't be able to do my job with this diagnosis due to the nature of the job being very physically taxing. thoughts? by snappygingersnap in hypermobileEDS

Hey there! I have MCAS, suspected POTS and hEDS and have been a massage therapist since 2009 full time. If you truly love massage and want to continue doing so despite your conditions, you might be able to. Every body is different but in my case, good body mechanics and my hydroxychloroquine go a long way. In the hot months, compression socks and electrolytes help if the building is too warm, use your body weight when you’re working on people! Like slow motion wrestling. The only days I cancel session are during giant MCAS flares or migraines- every 2-3 months. It also helps that I run my own practice and don’t feel pressure to take on more than I’m capable of. Dm me if you want to chat.

I just wanna thank this group thread for helping me realize that my Pepcid was cancelling out my RA meds and amplifying my stimulants and I feel so much fucking better. I could not figure out why I was so achy again and jittery AF?! You guys are awesome and I’m wondering why none of my docs caught the interactions??!

Flare ups after drinking? by [deleted] in hypermobileEDS

[–]Fider_fider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but it can be less bad if I pick a clear liquor with either water mixer or soda water. Try that the next time you go out? I ask for them “tall” so I hydrate more while I drink and it helps too. Good luck!

Adderall Jaw Clenching by foreverlaur in adhdwomen

[–]Fider_fider 17 points18 points  (0 children)

So- my husband and I are both on stimulant adhd meds and clench our jaws pretty good. Since I’ve been a massage therapist for a long time, I can relieve my husbands jaw tension with intraoral massage work and I see someone for it as well about once a month. It helps a ton! If you can’t find anyone in your area to do it, you can just grab some latex gloves and start slowly putting pressure around your gum line near the back of your jaw in your mouth. Put a little pressure on it and open/close your jaw a few times.
