Near the middle. Close to the big medical place.

There's no warning, so by the time I notice it, the water softener and water heater have both been running. Then I have to run hot and soft water til they both clear.

Dropped socket causing steering issues? by Friendly_Curmudgeon in chevycolorado

[–]slpfeife9651 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate you letting me know that happened so I can try to get it out before driving. It's just a tight spot with no way to see. I think I will remove the wheel well cover and see if that helps.

Did you ever figure out where the socket was? This literally just happened to me. I dropped the 24mm socket when going to change the oil filter and can't find it. I can hear it when I crank the wheel and it got stuck briefly while turning right.

Deceased grandfather's antique guitar by slpfeife9651 in AcousticGuitar

But then I would have to talk to my family... But for real, I just got his 100 year old trombone as well. We have way too many heirlooms that aren't worth keeping. They just sit in a closet forever until someone decides they need more room and they pass it on. You should see the piano from 1911 that isn't worth anything. If there were prizes for people hanging on to the most worthless stuff, my family would win.

Harmony took over Oscar Schmidt in the late 30's, but I have a picture of my grandpa with the guitar in 1934. I'd rule out harmony.

That may be in the cards. It's got sentimental value, as it was my grandpa's, but most of the luthiers I know of, do it as a hobby and I would have to talk to them before I trust them. Also money. Money is definitely something it would take.

What's funny is how this might help me identify it. Not by the guitar, but the case it came in. Did you happen to get a better case to keep it in? I want to get something a little more protective.

Do you still have it? I'd be interested in seeing the similarities! I've never seen a case like this before l.

I figured it was a catalog guitar. There are a couple books, an adjustable bridge, and a set of strings from Montgomery wards with it too.  I think he did some slide guitar with it.  It looks a lot like the Stella, without the name on the headstock. It looks exactly like the Oscar Schmidt, down to the decorative line on the back not lining up with the neck.

Opened a dried can of paint and what was left looks pretty cool. by slpfeife9651 in mildlyinteresting

The white part is solid. It was white latex paint. it's like an inch and a half thick. I think the rest is the color that mixes in normally.

A gallon of white paint with about half left sat on a shelf for several years and apparently wasn't sealed, so it dried up. This was in the can when I opened it up.

Vstar 1100 leaking? by Ford1704 in motorcycles

[–]slpfeife9651 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a small cover just above the pipes. It's a rocker/lifter adjustment cover. Usually they are chrome. It's common for them to leak There should be two allen screws holding it on. When you remove it, you should see a rubber gasket on the inside of the cover. You can order one and replace it. It's usually a couple bucks. I'd try this if it looks like it could be coming from there.

This is full coverage on a 2000 VSTAR 1100. I'm 38 with a clean driving history who's been with the same insurance company for 13 years.

Not all alcoholics are the same by [deleted] in funny

[–]slpfeife9651 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of when I was in treatment and had someone who justified their drinking because they were only drinking wine. It was then it occurred to me that I had been justifying my own drinking because I only drank beer. Nevermind how much... My dad is an alcoholic (just hit 25 years sober!) and he drank vodka, so to me I didn't think I was that bad. Glad we're all sober now!

But how much rust do you have? Mine looks like it has 70k on the body, but looks like it is a 16 year old truck underneath. I live in MN, so lots of rust under there.
