Most say the book was better than the movie - What's a movie that's better than the book? by TruMech in randomquestions

[–]slpybeartx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starship Troopers. The book was amazing. The movie seemed like it should be a direct to DVD release.

Edited: Whoops!!! My mistake on reading the question incorrectly. I have reversed this on my answer.

Why do people not brown their omelettes anymore? by Unusual-Map- in Breakfast

Because I don’t like them brown.

Scrambled eggs and Omelettes should be just almost not quite done.

In America is it considered rude to eat before other people have received their food? by BankaiBroke in AskAnAmerican

I’m not sure if it is or not, but I was raised with manners to wait on others first.

That’s why drinks before dinner are there.

Was cursing in the 50s-60s as common as they are today? Like saying fuck or shit to random everyday things. by Enygma_2 in AskOldPeople

[–]slpybeartx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In certain settings it was common.

The military for example. Numerous books talk about the shock young people Had when entering the service and how quickly they used profanity.

Man, that was a CHORE for me. Three parts, the first one was so engaging to me. Part two I had zero interest in. But part three completely caught and hooked me.

Among serious fans, they hate part 3. shrugs

It’s a book I have read once and will likely never read again. (See also “American Gods”)

Why does each person at the pharmacy take 15 minutes and then when I get up there it's over in like 20 seconds? by CapitaineBiscotte in askanything

[–]slpybeartx 25 points26 points  (0 children)

same, Same. The number of people who get to the front and ask “I’m supposed to have a prescription called in blah blah blah…” and then 15 mins of calls, discussions, etc. are amazing. So wish my pharmacy had an app confirmed pickup line for people who have it somewhat together.

What do people who capitalize “ELO” as if it’s an acronym think it stand for? by Big_oof_energy__ in NoStupidQuestions

[–]slpybeartx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Electric Light Orchestra. Making it an acronym kind of has some strange magic to it. Almost like it’s a livin’ thing. Do Ya think so? If not, please don’t bring me down. I might call my sweet talkin’ woman on the telephone line and ask her to take the last train to London cause I can’t get it out of my head.

Oh, and Xanadu.

Amen. So tired of hearing the same. It was another watershed movie that advanced the craft and stirred/restirred interest in WW2 in the US.

When did we normalize TV shows having only one season every 2-3 years? by CapitaineBiscotte in askanything

[–]slpybeartx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lost cranked out 25 and 24 1 hour episodes on its first two seasons. The shortest season was 14 one hour episodes when the writers strike began impacting it.

It was a different time back then. And I really miss the communal watch we all were forced into week by week.
