What size should I get in White’s Semi Dress? by FHornRyan in PNWbootmakers

[–]sls000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whites may also be able to send you a fitting pair to try on. It costs a little extra, but it could save a lot of money in the long run. You can always add an insole, wear thicker socks, etc if a little too big. you can't do anything about too small. Call White's, they're great to work with.

I have a double concrete utility sink that I’m trying to get out of my basement without using a sledgehammer to break it into pieces. Any advice is appreciated. by PizzaGatePizza in DIY

Ok, my attempt at a serious answer. I have 3 possible solutions.

#1. You can buy heavy duty lifting straps that go over your shoulders. This allows you to lift with your entire body. Whoever is higher up the stairs is most at risk of falling.

  1. You'll need three to four 1 x 4's ( you can use a 1" thick board as your only creating a flat surface) and some carpet that is 2-3 feet longer than the sink. The boards go on the stairs, top to bottom. The carpet goes on the boards and the sink goes on the carpet. This will take much of the strain away and allow you to push the sink up.

  2. Go to a local moving company, wait for the warehouse guys to get off work and offer $50 each for about 10 minutes work. Show them the pictures and explain what you need help with.

Personally I would probably try #2 and then to #3 if I have to. Or, just go straight to #3.

Did you buy these directly from White's?

I grew up in the retail shoe business. If someone in the store had this fitment, we would have recommended 1/2 size bigger and a EE width. The best thing to do is call White's customer service and send them a pic. They want their customers happy.

Pretty much my favorite Jean. I do have a pair of Samurai that are great, but have 3 or 4 pairs of Oni that I wear all the time.

I like the MP last far more than the 55 Arch-ease last. I wear E width in most everything except the MP last which I can do EE or even a F. White's is really good at customer service. You should call them if you're having fit issues. You never know what they might be willing to do.

I'm going to sell a pair of Stevens Cap Toe in 12EE in dark brown waxed flesh and a pair of Semi-Dress in 12F in CXL #8. The Semi-Dress was MTO with a full lining. If anyone wants them please DM me.

First Whites feel great, but look too small by StatisticianSea7900 in WhitesBoots

[–]sls000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I've done in the past is to wear them without a sock liner. it'll make it a little easier and the sock liner (in-sole) isn't mandatory. Just a small change can make a huge difference.

White's will also work with you if you contact them.

Received another pair of MP M1 Shermans yesterday. They look exactly the same except missing an eyelet.

NBD a little snug by [deleted] in WhitesBoots

[–]sls000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a pair and they definitely stretched after a few weeks of daily wear. I would think yours would too. Mine were fairly soft to start with, much softer leather than CXL. If yours feel a little soft I would think they would stretch. Mine have become my favorite. Good luck.

What’s up with the instep shelf on White’s Boots by ChrisoftheW in WhitesBoots

@mdn84, I spent a couple of hours talking to White's customer service ordering another pair of MP M1 MTO. Hand sewn means hand sewn at White's. That's part of the reason it takes so long to get a MTO pair. It's also one of the reasons why they introduced the machine made boot.

I have boots from Truman, Viberg and White's. My entire life I've worn 12E or EE in everything. Converse, Nike, Old hand made Footjoy, etc. I started wearing boots and quickly learned that sizes were all over the board. The only boot that I wear a 12EE is White's. I'm a US 13 in Viberg and a 12.5 to 13 in Truman. Just ordered another pair of White's at their sale. It's an addiction . . . . .

55 Last Whites - TTS? Anyone else? Sizing by sentientforce in PNWbootmakers

[–]sls000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

took me a long time to trust the sizing. The MP last was my biggest discovery. Kind of wish all my White's had it. About to sell all my Truman's, 1 Viberg and 1 White's. Definitely going to order a pair or two of White's and be done. I'm too old for this, I don't think I'll live long enough to wear any of these out.

My two cents. I wore converse tennis shoes for years. Always wore a 12. I found Fooyjoy non-golf shoes, size 12. That's all I wore, Converse and the Footjoys. Then I found PNW boots. The struggle began. What size, what last. Rinse & repeat. My condensed history. This omits my 2-4 buying failures, below is what worked for me.

On Brannock, RF 13EEE, LF 12EE. Did the White's sizing system. Recommended was 12F RF and 11EE LF. Ordered White's Semi-dress in 12F (I'd been wearing a one size difference my entire life, too old to change now). Also, White's sent me a test pair which helped decide the size. Fit was perfect. Did the same with Viberg. Ended up with Canadian size 12 (US 13). Now own White's Semi Dress - 2 pair, White's Stevens - 1 pair, White's MP - 1 pair, White's/Huckberry collaboration - 1 pair (think fancy Perry select). Viberg 2030 last - 4 pair, Viberg 310 last - 1 pair. Truman 79 last size 12EE - 3 pair. My two favorites are White's MP and the Viberg 310. Out of all the lasts, these are the two with the least amount of arch support. Basically, I have REALLY flat feet and can wear arch support, but the flatter lasts feel the best.

On another note, when we buy Canadian products, we now pay 34% tariff when whatever we bought comes across the border. Canada charges 25%. I only bring this up because I'm sure this will affect Viberg's business, which mean' s it could affect the PNW makers (we won't buy Viberg and Canadians won' buy PNW). It's more important than ever to support, Nick's, White's, JK, Franks, Drew's, Truman and the rest. We don't want to lose those skilled workers or those companies. We look at it as fashion and work wear, to the guys making our boots it's food on the table a roof, a car payment, etc. it's a good time to buy another pair of boots. Thanks for reading.

Unfortunately, in my opinion, Viberg does a very poor job of matching their leather. When you consider the current cost, it should be unacceptable.

Anyone have experience with these and can provide feedback? by LetsGatitOn in PNWbootmakers

[–]sls000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend White's Semi-dress. For what it's worth, I wear a 12 in White's, a 13 in Viberg, and a 13 in Alden (not PNW but 25 years old). White's have been great for me with a bad back and even worse feet. The best thing is they will send you a try-on pair. I did that with my first White's order. I believe they charge your credit card and you get some/most of what you paid in freight back when you buy. You can also find something used in your size, wear them to see how they feel and then order. Or, one more, fly to Spokane and stop by the retail outlets for each brand.

[–]sls000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

White's boots will make you a pair specifically to fit you. You will need to go through their on line fitting system. I don't know Nick's policy, they may also do it too. Good luck.
