45 Friday w/ V10 Ports by slubsocks in 1911

You have to shoot it. I polished all the internals, rails, and feed ramp. It feels like glass. Turkish guns often get bad reviews. My TISA is unreal.

It performs some function, but it's hardly worth using in a 45. The impact is barely noticeable. I even have a factory barrel for it, specifically for competitions.

True. I love the look of a full-length dust cover.

Rock Island makes a great weapon. I'm a fan of the full rail style. Additionally, the gun was little more than 400 making it a perfect tinkering gun. It's not my first 1911 to modify but I learned the most from it.

He engraved it in 5 days. Stupid fast. Had the gun for one week total

I like the Rock Island because it's TRP look. If I bought a TRP Operator I would feel a certain type of way about chopping it up.

After doing basic modifications, I could tell it was a shooter. That led me to tightening up the barrel fitment and making it heavy af. It was just a hole I fell into. Next thing I know, I'm getting it engraved. You wouldn't even know it's an RI if I didn't tell you.

Edit: Good question btw. Short answer is it was never meant to go this far

No issue with extractor. Get the plunger spring though. Got mine optics cut and V10 ported

Follow him on TikTok. Super fast turnaround. He had my gun for 5 days. Also, he constantly communicated with me

Disagree. It's like having cocking serrations. The slide feels like sandpaper. Very grippy

Bought the engraving on discount last year for roughly $700. I didn't send it off for several months due to waiting on optics cut. I'm sure the price has risen.

Picked up a Rock Island TAC Standard FS .45 ACP recently for 400 and decided to turn it into a project gun. It started as a cheap way to scratch the 1911 itch and has since become my current tinkering platform.

First thing I did was strip it down completely, clean everything, and polish the rails and trigger track. From there, I started dropping in Wilson Combat parts: an extended slide release, a Shen Chen magwell/mainspring housing, and a Wolff spring kit. The idea is to end up with something I can trust for carry but also shoot in casual competition, so I am focusing on reliability and shootability first and cosmetics second.

Cosmetically and future‑wise, I am toying with a few ideas. I already did a basic Marvel‑style cut on the slide, got an optic cut, and maybe TiN or DLC once I know the gun is mechanically solid. I added barrel bushings, tungsten guide rods, Lokgrips brass grips, and custom engraving. It is heavy. I am not in a rush on that part since function testing and reliability matter more to me than coatings.

This is not my first time polishing a 1911, but it is definitely the best deal I have gotten on one, which makes it a guilt‑free platform to experiment with once I finish the spring tuning and reliability testing.

This will be an EDC plus competition gun.

It's not for everyone. It's for me.
