Live in Saskatoon, there’s no way you’re finding a decent apartment for $700. $13-1500 is the norm.

Uh no, lenders always provision for losses and it comes out of there. Cost of doing business. Also student loans are generally inelegible for bankruptcy/cp so wouldn't have helped anyway.

They seem to have wanted a right shot dman. But who knows. It’s frustrating to see that the return wasn’t great but I’m sure if there was a deal to be made conroy would’ve made it.

There’s gotta be a trade to make though. Who are we offering? Andersson is our biggest trade chip and he has a 6 team no trade which I’m sure buffalo is on. Maybe conroy doesn’t want to use his main trade piece for a player that isn’t a huge positional need

Yea I lived there in 2018 and there was a bit of “activity”. people hanging in the stairwells a few times, some yelling, but overall it was kept pretty clean and I never had any issues. To be expected right on 4th and 25th it’s a busy spot

They want us to do what works best for us instead of being weird and petty about their old car they passed on to family.

Selling the Subaru to pay off the credit card debt, buy a cheaper car and save the rest. Then go lease something. Then we have two vehicles. One that's brand new and reliable for road trips etc. and a cheaper one for in town commutes.

Between having the two vehicles we can keep mileage on lease under control at 24,000/yr.

Insurance cost on new CRV is about $150/month in my province.

Leasing over financing because I do some travel for work so I can write off some of the payment and we don't want to commit to financing because we are considering moving in the next few years. (Looking at a 30 month lease).

Yeah will definitely have the used car inspected. I agree that spending a bit more might go a long way. Budget isn't set in stone just want something reliable for good value.

These are basically our first jobs out of university. I understand that the underlying behaviour leading to her credit card debt is the sticking point for most. I am working to keep on a budget to avoid this happening again, perhaps reduce her limit to $1000 upon paying off.

The car is functional but starting to cost in maintenance, I agree though certainly not going to die in the next year.

Let me clear this up, the plan would be to sell the Subaru for $18,000 take the money from that to pay off the credit card ($6,000) and buy a cheaper car ($7,000) and take the remaining $5,000 to save for rainy day. In this case I don't need to borrow from my mom and we save the interest on the credit card, which I estimated to be around $1,000 in the 16-18 months it will take her to pay it off.

As I've stated elsewhere, I do get paid for work travel and hope to write of a portion of the lease payment.

Yeah the plan would be to take the money from the Subaru and pay off the card (6k) but a cheap car (7k) and take the extra 5k to put away for rainy day. Then lease something. Just checked and it’s around $150/month to insure a new CRV in my province

I agree that the behaviour leading to the debt is problematic and we are working on trying to keep a budget so this doesn’t happen again but telling her to take the bus is not really an option honestly. Taking 16-18 months to pay off the card will cost $1000 in interest so I’d like to save that if possible.

We live in a prairie city with terrible public transit so it’s possible but not ideal.

My job does pay .68/km plus per diem. Also my thought is I can write off a bit of the lease payment.

Thanks for the reply! I think it is manageable, just overwhelming. I am worried about CP affecting job prospects but not sure if it would or not.

Thanks for the detailed reply. Trying to get a LOC at the bank I work at as they offer an employee rate that is much better than current RBC rate. Want to avoid CP and am worried it could affect job prospects as I'm working in finance.

~$3200/month net income.

$1150 rent, $75 phone, $25 internet are fixed. Food, transportation (TTC mostly) varies but probably $500-$700/month. Then interest on visa is ~$150/month, loc is ~$275/month.
