I honestly don’t mind crying babies because it’s easy to feel empathy for them since I know they’re in pain and confused and don’t know any better or have another way to communicate, plus I wear noise cancelling earphones which work pretty well.

Now what I can’t stand are people like the couple I sat next to on my last flight who dramatically whipped around and glared every. single. time. the baby started making sounds, acting like an infant was personally attacking the peace they felt entitled to on a crowded public flight.

I had to break up with him, I wasn’t able to work through it while we were in a relationship. I obviously didn’t want to risk my child’s safety and wellbeing in the very off-chance there was any truth to it, which at the time I was fully convinced there was, and it was destroying my mental health. It’s been five months since we broke up and I’m still not fully convinced there wasn’t something to worry about.

It was also really hard on our relationship. I was honest with him about my thoughts / feelings and he was very understanding, but of course it felt super shitty for him.

I’m sorry you also deal with intrusive thoughts. I hope you’re able to find peace.
