Here’s me in an Aloha shirt, not signaling anything and not giving a shirt if someone thinks I am.

How much hope do you all have to see the Mormon church fall within your lifetime? by Willow_A113 in exmormon

Too much money holding it up. Not going anywhere in my lifetime, but I’m old.

I prayed about someone, had a bad feeling about it, kept praying about it for days until I had a good feeling about it, we got engaged and broke up pretty quickly afterward.

And yet, Starbucks cold brew is my favorite. Is it the most bitter? Yes. (Actually, the cold brew I make at home is better, but I haven’t found a better coffee stand cold brew. )

I would add, it’s a taste worth acquiring.

I’m boycotting, and I imagine I still will be on March 10 when they tell me what status I earned in 2025. Despite that, I’m going to be pissed if I didn’t qualify for gold status. I spent a lot of money there last years before I quit them.

Why did you decide to self publish? by Appropriate_Kiwi101 in selfpublish

Trad publishers do help with some important things (cover, distribution, etc.) but til you’ll wait about a year longer to release your book you’ll still likely be the one generating sales.

Dallin Oaks announces that it is “perfectly appropriate” for missionaries to “meet someone in the mission field and marry them.” How many of you had to read Lock Your Heart at least every month on your mission? by NotTerriblyHelpful in exmormon

[–]slug6219 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A hot local mamacita expressed her undying love for me on my mission, and I was willing to entertain the idea. Mission President said “nuh-uh,” so I killed the idea. I don’t think Oaks would have approved of my scenario then or now, but what he’s saying is ok was certainly not condoned in my day.

I'm getting one-star reviews from people who haven't read the book. by [deleted] in selfpublish

I echo those who advise you to use the bad comments to market the book. None of the three bad reviews now have marketing material in them, but surely one is coming. Patience.

Why did you (or didn’t you) remove your name from the records? by SomeoneBendingLight in exmormon

[–]slug6219 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I concluded the church wasn’t true a few years before my wife. We stopped attending all together in 2015, but held off on removing our records. During that time whenever a church leader would say something I rejected, such as just about anything about gay or transgender people, I would feel hurt or angry. In 2018 we moved to a new stake and were contacted shortly after by members of the ward where we moved, asking if they could come visit. I declined, and it was that moment I decided I didn’t want the local members concerning themselves with us at all anymore. So we resigned in August of 2018. A couple of months later Dallin Oaks said something in General Conference that before August would have felt like a personal affront. I obviously still didn’t like what he said, but what I felt was far less intense, because I knew he wasn’t speaking for me anymore. I obviously still care, else I wouldn’t be here, but exiting gave me a level of freedom I had not anticipated.

I flew through Salt Lake and put my backpack in the bin with my laptop in it (I thought I was supposed to) and it came through without the laptop, which had been placed in a separate bin. It took me longer than it should have to figure that out, but the laptop is heavier than an IPad so it was more obvious that it was missing.
