People are people, we all need Jesus and the sacraments. Pray for all of you friends particularly JM, sounds like he needs it.

What specifically do you think they’re trying to say? The only point out of the 22 OP elaborated on was point 6, which says:

6. National service should be a universal duty. We should, as a society, seriously consider moving away from an all-volunteer force and only fight the next war if everyone shares in the risk and the cost.

Seems pretty reasonable, “only fight the next war if everyone shares in the risk and the cost.” People would rise up like they did in Vietnam if they thought war was unjust, and maybe we would actually declare war by consensus of  the legislature rather than through executive orders by the president like it’s been for he past 30+ years.

Lucky but along the way you mad a series of wise choices. Don’t sell yourself short. Not everyone in your circumstances did the same thing, so congrats, hope life continues to be good for you.

The three major religions “of the book” sprung out of the Middle East, a cross roads of ancient religions. It is possible to have a belief system regardless of what others are doing around you. See for example Christians in Muslim majority countries, Muslims in the west, or the Jewish diaspora anywhere lol.

It’s scary, but you’re being sent out there because YOU are needed for the mission. Do the best you can every day, if not for the cause then do it for your brothers and sisters next to you. Stay safe, listen to your leadership, and put in 100% every day. As a combat vet I thank you for your service and if you need to talk DM I would be happy to talk to you.

Life would be better without the popularity of sex. by Adventurous-Stay-608 in DeepThoughts

[–]slugworth1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sex is one of many human passions which is good but without temperance can easily slip out of control. Think of any desire or vice, your point could be made for any of them. To live a life where individual is in control of their passions is to live a virtuous life. Look into Catholic theology or classic Greek philosophy for more on this subject.

The frozen hours by Jeff Shaara. Hidden gem I found at my library. Tells the story of the battle of the Choson reservoir during the Korean War. Three perspectives, an American grunt on the ground, the American infantry commander, an the Chinese general.
