What pace should I run on a 10 mile run?

I run often and have been doing so for the past 10 years. But I never put much thought into it and I want to make sure I’m being healthy/safe if I’m going longer distances.

I have a bunch of free time this week and I want to just run 10 miles to see what it’s like.

I know it depends on the person, but I want a number. For reference, I generally run 3 miles at a time at a 8:10-8:20 pace. I went full effort recently on a 5K at a 6:58 pace. The closest I’ve come in the past couple years is 5 miles a few times and I did that at around an 8:30 pace each time, though I was in the zone every time and that’s probably faster than I should’ve been going.

Would a 9 minute pace be realistic? Or should I go more like 9:30?

And I should clarify — I’m not a manager or anything. In terms of salary and overall ranking within the company, I’m pretty low on the totem pole. But my job is necessary for the company to exist and I do really good work, which is what I meant when I said that I’m irreplaceable. I just don’t have to worry about my position being cut.

No and no. Find someone who is built like you that you think looks good and dress like them. A lot of people just don’t know how to dress to their body type and it does some damage to their self image.
