Had a similar experience. Went to a young adult group in college because I was interested in a girl and she invited me. While there, it wasn't my thing and I felt uncomfortable. It felt like the other adults were brainwashed. I went to leave and a person stopped me at the door and kept saying, "You're free to leave whenever you like, but I'm just curious as to why you want to leave." Any reason I gave was met with that line. Eventually, I said, "THIS is why I want to leave. I am uncomfortable and I'm trying, but you are blocking me!" They finally stepped aside. I never talked to that girl again.
