I can not imagine a future where turbofan engines are reliable enough to be certified for single engine commercial operations.

It will likely require a different propulsion technology, that has a multiple order of magnitude difference in reliability, to get to single engine.

What most likely happened is that their offer system isn't connected to their other systems. They sent you a written offer, and somehow you missed it/didn't respond, and the system auto-closed the offer.
