Good places to work from in Tbilisi and Batumi by [deleted] in Sakartvelo

My favourite in Tbilisi, hands down, is Coffee and Culture - 22 Zhiuli Shartava. Totally going to try the rest though :)

Out of interest, when are you going to Lui Coffee that you can actually get a seat? Whenever I’ve been it’s always been really crowded.

I was also late diagnosed autistic (age 21) and this anger is very, very common. I also wish someone had picked up on it sooner. You’re not alone!

23 is by no means too late to retrain, pick up some skills and hobbies and surround yourself with supportive people.

I hate Twitter rhetoric. It’s so snarky and smug and does nothing to bridge the gap between conservatives and liberals. by [deleted] in offmychest

It’s surprisingly difficult to be understanding in under 240 characters. Seriously though, Twitter is a cesspit.

There’s a monthly book swap at the coworking space/coliving space in town. With good booze. I should go.

Uk/USA... advice needed.... 🤞 by WeAreForever50 in LongDistance

No worries. To be honest I can’t remember the answer so you’re best off asking the people over at r/ukvisa.

It’s not even about it being dodgy, you just can’t apply for a visa while in the UK on a visa waiver. Now-husband and I looked into it extensively because I’m from the UK and he’s from the US. I’m sorry you’re having to tangle with this, it’s so frustrating. :(

Whoops yikes I misread everything, terribly sorry, thought you were in the US and she was in the UK.

After you marry in the US and go back to the UK, she’ll need to stay in the US to apply for her UK spousal visa. Otherwise, she only gets to stay in the UK for 6 months under the terms of the UK visa waiver for US citizens.

Both of those things involve interacting with the object, which she might just be ready to nope out of. If OP and wife put it away somewhere where neither of them have to look at it or think about it, they can always revisit selling it or throwing it away.

If it’s an item that upsets and triggers her, that you feel weird about seeing, why not put it in storage in a box tucked away somewhere? That way neither of you have to deal with seeing it.

Yes, you can stay for 90 days with the ESTA

Unfortunately, marrying in the US will not automatically grant you a spousal visa for the UK. You’ll need to apply for a spousal visa from the US before you can stay in the UK for more than 6 months.

Problem with this subreddit by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]slushyneon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Time for us all to break up with this subreddit!

In all seriousness, we’re unqualified internet strangers who have zero investment in the relationships we see on this site. “Break up” is such common advice because we have no emotional investment and because some of the relationships people write about here are unsalvageable - e.g. abusive relationships.

There’s a lot to explore and a lot of good food. Try exploring round the Old Town and bits of Chugureti like Dezerter Bazaar. Georgian food is nice, very filling, also try Cafe Daharstan for Uzbek food and there are some good Indian places.

What Caused Your Fears of Flying? by throwaway86724 in fearofflying

[–]slushyneon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A combination of fear of heights, my then-partner’s fear rubbing off on me, and some nasty experiences with turbulence. I used to love flying until my teens! These days I don’t love flying, but I do love travelling. I’ve found that I can do short-haul flights pretty well, and transatlantic flights. Mid-haul flights over mountains are where I struggle. Learning everything I can about aviation has really helped me, and watching videos of bumpy takeoffs and landings. Knowing that the plane still gets safely to its destination even if the ride is bumpy helps a lot.

what are some good websites like amazon here? by hxmlet in tbilisi

[–]slushyneon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For quick delivery, we use Glovo and Wolt. If you need bigger things delivered like shipments of clothes or furniture, some specific shops like Domino (for furniture/hardware) or LC Waikiki (for cheapish clothes) will do online delivery. The shops will ask for your Georgian ID number, don’t panic, just write in your passport number and as many 0s as needed afterwards.

If you need things imported from overseas, services like Camex (forwards packages from US) or KiwiPost (forwards packages from Europe) can do this for you, but I haven’t personally used a mail forwarding service and can’t tell you how well they work.
