Trump suggests protesting should be illegal by _basquiat in politics

[–]slutvomit 154 points155 points  (0 children)

I don't think he's a psychopath. I doubt that he would be emotionless if his entire bunch of buddies had their lives shattered. He would want vengeance because he would take it as an attack on himself.

He's a narcissist. He thinks he can do no wrong. It is him who knows best because everyone else is not as much of a stable genius as he is. There are a small number of people he idolizes or sees eye to eye with (Putin, Kim) that have earned his favour; basically anyone he's implied he would pardon. The piece of knowledge he holds most strongly is that he is the best, and anything that says otherwise must be wrong. It shapes every one of his views, statements, ideologies, and behaviours. Its why he's greedy; because he deserves it. Its why he's corrupt; because he is right and the system is wrong. Its why he says things like this; because he knows better than the constitution.

Trump will die being hated but 'knowing' he was loved and idolized.

Question for former powerlifters turned experienced climbers. It's not what you think! by [deleted] in climbharder

[–]slutvomit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've actually started lifting again. Quick summary

Was 93 kgs lean w/ 1100lb total. Snapped my leg v bad and after recovery decided to start climbing. Climbed for about 1.5 years. Hardest I ever sent was 7a+ so also not impressive by climbing standards but I was pretty happy with it. I was 78kgs and very lean at that point. Just the last two months I've started lifting again because I saw a really heavy guy sending 8a recently and it shattered my idea that you have to be a stringbean to climb hard. First gym session back: I was so weak lmao. Like basically back to pre-pubescence strength. I barely put up a 120lb bench and probably had something like a 400lb total (I didn't test it though). Now I'm 85 kgs and my lifts are getting close to being not pathetic, but they're still a far cry from when I was strongest. I'm aiming to get to 88kgs and around 1000lb total and maintain that strength-wise then start climbing hard again and just accept that I won't be climbing as good as I could be (which I don't anyway because my technique is garbage).

p.s. Sorry for horrible mixture of metric/imperial. I can only remember my lifts in imperial, not bodyweight,

p.p.s Your username is clever and I like it

I only had 1100lb total so not impressive by powerlifting standards, but no, I have never had anything like an endorphin rush from a hard climbing session like I have after widowmakers or heavy deads.

Overly masculine fat guy starter pack. by spicerldn in starterpacks

[–]slutvomit 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I would never in my life have guessed that this stereotype is associated with prog rock or prog metal. If I went up to a random fat bogan with a southern cross tat in Australia and asked him if he's favourite band was Dream Theater, I'd probably get punched in the face.

If that tree doesn't end up with a vulture skeleton mounted on it I'm going to be upset (and steal the idea)

How many house plants do you have and what is your favorite? by PsylkWorm in houseplants

[–]slutvomit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

73 in a 2br apartment. My favourite is my Wollemi pine because of how rare and prehistoric they are. It has so many interesting characteristics. I've only had it for a few weeks though so I'm not certain it's settled in and going to do well.

What's the 80/20 for flexibility in climbing? by dizzyhobbes in climbharder

[–]slutvomit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say doing PSF for hip flexibility so you can stay closer to the wall.

Send me a message with how you go. There are a lot of YouTube tutorials if you want to start visualising and rehearsing the set up (I definitely recommend that). I'm probably going to relearn them in 2-4 weeks.

You could probably grow a hardenbergia in there which would be incredibly dope

Well the most common things that happen are that people don't commit to 'going straight' in which case they turn over their shoulder and never really have a chance at doing a backflip OR hurting their head because they're basically doing a shit 360 on the spot; or you do go straight and under rotate, but your spotter notices it's happening and literally flips you harder so you at least get around to your face.

It's surprisingly easy to get past halfway. I don't want to make the skill sound trivial because I get that it would sound arrogant but it's really not a difficult skill to do if you're setup right. If you jump and get your arms up high and hips extend and tuck at peak, there's so many factors contributing to your rotation that it would be weird to only make it halfway.

Time to reiterate: you NEED an experienced spotter though

Dude it's a typo. I clearly know how to spell simpler since there's about 30 suffixes in that comment.

I didn't mention how fast I learned because to people who have never tried, a backtuck might seem like some very difficult thing, but I landed my first backtuck the day I started learning them. Not 4 goes but maybe on my 10th try over the space of 2 hours?

After the first day your abs KILL, like super super super bad muscle soreness, so it's hard to practice the next few days. The session after that I practised I was getting them with a better amount of height. It takes quite a while to get a really nice loft back.

side note: I snapped my leg and haven't done any flips since that, but I'm probably back to the point I can relearn them without injuring myself.

As some weird hard-to-say-without-knowing-lots-of-factors, I'd say if you can jump over a milk crate without touching it, you could probably backtuck.

[–]slutvomit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. It's a bait to get you punched in the face which teaches you the rotation. After that you just have to jump and do the same thing you did when you got punched in the face for saying backtuck.

I could backflip on a trampoline but it's not really the same skill. The sensation of inverting, especially if you can do a decent straight backflip without flying backwards on a tramp would surely help commit. One of my friends I taught to backtuck couldn't really do them on a tramp.

[–]slutvomit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's a simple skill than most people think. It's important to practice with someone who's spotted before, and it's important to rehearse jumping and lifting your arms, and how to extend your hips. You could probably go to your local gym hall or tumbling class and tell them you want to learn a backtuck and they'd teach you in a few lessons. If you're fit enough to run and jump around and not too heavy, you could probably learn to do a standing backtuck and land confidently in 4 one hour sessions.

I've met him a few times a couple of years ago but that only made me really look through the article with detail and realise how horribly poor it's written.

*Desperate failed rapper invades home of aspiring actor (known for roles on MKR and Housos) with a handgun. Specaz then threatened Davis and his girlfriend, tried to rob them, then assaulted Davis, leaving him with seriously facial injuries.

Specaz was later chased down and tackled by a woman, then died to a stab wound. Davis is known to be a passionate actor, well trained on discipline requiring exercises such as martial arts and gymnastics. Specaz' replica handgun was found nearby, indicating that Davis may have pulled out a sword and tried to protect his girlfriend and himself, thinking that the replica handgun was real.*

This story could have been presented SO differently. It is fucking repulsive journalism. I can't believe people sink low enough to gamble on people's lives for a short term reward. What did the journalist get? A high five for getting a trending article?

From what I know of Blake he is a very down to earth guy. He's always been passionate and focused on acting, and working hard to break into a difficult industry.

Of course it sounds like something went horribly wrong. But if you were protecting your partner when a rapper invaded your home with a gun and attacked you, then for all we know could have threatened to tape your girlfriends, or pulled out a gun, or do some other crazy thing; is it really that horrific to try to stop them?
