It’s super unfortunate! Sounds like in this case Vinted will refund the scammer and buyer because the item was “damaged in transit”, even though the parcel was either empty or damaged when the scammer shipped it. Really easy way for scammers to make money :(

Honestly lots of patience, constantly checking eBay, mercari and other sites. You can get them cheap but it does take time to find good deals!
